Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator - 1988-1991 Honda Civic & CRX

Whether you're running a stock EF, a built CRX, or a swapped hatch, coolant temperature is what stands between you and a reliable engine, and the factory radiator wasn't built for the heat a modified or hard-driven car makes. This Mishimoto all-aluminum radiator replaces it with a dual-core design that holds far more coolant and sheds heat better, built to drop into the EF's factory location. It's the radiator for a leaking stock car, a track build, or a boosted D-series.

Why Upgrade The Radiator

Two reasons, both valid on a car this age.

On a stock or aging EF, the factory radiator is often simply failing, these cars are 30-plus years old, and the original radiators crack, corrode, and leak. A fresh aluminum radiator fixes that permanently with a unit that won't fail the way the decades-old original does.

On a modified car, it's about capacity. A boosted, high-compression, or hard-run D-series makes more heat than the factory radiator was designed to handle, and sustained high coolant temps accelerate wear and can damage the engine. A larger-capacity aluminum radiator keeps your temps in check when you're pushing the car. Either way, this protects the engine.

Dual-Core Aluminum Construction

The construction is where the cooling and durability come from.

It's a 100% brazed aluminum core with TIG-welded end tanks, which is stronger, more durable, and sheds heat better than the factory plastic-and-aluminum unit. Aluminum tolerates more heat and pressure and dissipates heat more efficiently, so the material itself contributes to the cooling.

The dual-core, two-row design (1.34" thick) holds 1.64 gallons, significantly more coolant than stock, which gives the system more thermal mass and more surface area to shed heat. More capacity means lower, more stable temperatures across any driving condition, from traffic on a hot day to a track session.

Fits Your Swap Or Your Stock Car

Built for the EF's distinctive radiator location.

This is a direct fit for the 1988-1991 Civic and CRX in the DX, HF, and Si trims, engineered to the EF's tall, narrow factory radiator shape so it drops into the stock location with no modification. It fits the factory D-series engines (D15 and D16 variants) that came in these cars, and it's the standard cooling upgrade whether you've kept your original engine or swapped something in.

The Included Details

Two extras that come with it.

A 1.3 bar high-pressure radiator cap raises the coolant's boiling point, higher pressure means coolant can run hotter before it boils, giving more margin before the system vents. And a magnetic drain plug captures metallic debris circulating in the cooling system, so wear particles collect at the plug instead of cycling through your pump and engine. Both make it a complete upgrade rather than just a bigger core.

Build The Full Cooling System

The natural companions for the best cooling.

This radiator is a perfect match for the Mishimoto CRX fan shroud kit. A radiator only cools as well as the air moving through it, and a shroud forces all the fan's airflow through the entire core rather than letting it spill around the edges. Running the radiator and shroud together gets the most out of both, especially valuable on a track car or in stop-and-go heat where airflow at low speed matters most.

While you've got the cooling system open, it's also the ideal time to replace the aging factory rubber coolant hoses with Mishimoto silicone radiator hoses, 30-plus-year-old rubber is well past its best and prone to failing under heat and pressure, so doing the hoses alongside the radiator means the whole system is fresh. Radiator, shroud, and hoses together are the complete cooling upgrade for the EF.

Fitment

1988-1991 Honda Civic and CRX (DX, HF, Si)

D15/D16 engines. Direct fit to the factory location.

Who Should Grab This

This is for the EF Civic or CRX owner whose factory radiator is leaking or overheating, and for anyone building or swapping these cars who needs real cooling capacity, a boosted D-series, a track car, a clean build. Dual-core aluminum that won't fail like the decades-old factory unit, more coolant capacity, a magnetic drain plug and high-pressure cap included, and a direct fit to the factory location. Pair it with the fan shroud and fresh silicone hoses, drop it in, and keep your temps where they belong.
