The Honda B series timing belt drive pulley (part number 13621-P72-A01) sits on your crankshaft at the base of your timing belt system. If the pulley's worn and the teeth are damaged, your timing belt can skip teeth on the pulley. When your timing belt skips teeth, your camshaft timing's off and your valves can hit your pistons. That's a bent valve or a destroyed piston. Don't run a worn timing belt pulley.

The timing belt drive pulley sits between two timing belt guide plates on your crankshaft. The guide plates keep your timing belt tracking straight on the pulley. The pulley sits behind your crank pulley, so you need to remove your crank pulley to access the timing belt pulley. When you're doing a timing belt job, you're already removing your crank pulley, so inspect the timing belt drive pulley at the same time.

Replace It If the Teeth Are Worn

Whenever you're doing a timing belt job, inspect your timing belt drive pulley. If the teeth are worn, rounded, chipped, or damaged, replace it. Don't reuse a worn pulley.
