YCP P30 Pistons - B16/B18 (All-Motor Build)

If you're building an all-motor B-series and want more compression and real strength without stepping up to full forged prices, these YCP P30 pistons are the proven, affordable answer. They're a stronger casting than the factory B-series pistons, hard-anodized and Teflon-coated, and they've earned their reputation, we've run YCP pistons for over 20 years with great results. For a GSR, Type R, or B16 all-motor build on a budget that still demands real durability, these are the piston.

Pick Your Bore Size

These come in three sizes to match your block, so measure before you order.

81.0mm is the standard bore, for a block at factory spec or being rebuilt without boring.

81.5mm (0.5mm over) is for a block bored 0.5mm oversize, common when a cylinder needs cleaning up.

82.0mm (1mm over) is for a block bored 1mm oversize.

If your block's been bored, order the size for the final bore, not the original. If you're unsure, measure it or check with your machine shop.

With or Without Rings

Choose the configuration for your build.

With rings is the complete kit: 4 pistons, wrist pins, wrist pin clips, and a premium gas-nitrided ring set, everything to build the engine. This is the simplest buy for a full build, and the way most people order these.

Without rings is the pistons, pins, and clips only, for anyone running a specific ring set or who already has rings on hand. If you're going this route, have your rings sorted before you build.

What Compression You'll Run

The compression ratio depends on your block and head combination, so here's what common setups land at.

Block + Head Compression
B16A block and head10.5:1
B18C block + PR3 head11.2:1
B18C block + P72 head11.5:1
B18A/B block + PR3 head12.1:1
B18A/B block + P72 head12.5:1

These are the common combinations, your final ratio depends on your exact block, head, gasket, and bore. The higher ratios (the B18A/B combinations) are aggressive and want quality fuel and a proper tune; the B16A and B18C setups are more street-friendly. Match the combination to the compression you're after and the fuel you'll run.

Why YCP Pistons Hold Up

Built stronger than the factory B-series pistons, which is what makes them worth running on a serious all-motor build.

They're cast from a stronger AC8A-grade material than OEM and T6 heat-treated for greater strength and heat resistance. The piston tops are hard-anodized for added strength and durability where the combustion heat hits hardest, and the skirts are Teflon-coated, which extends piston life, improves cylinder sealing for less blow-by, and reduces friction to free up a little power.

They use 21mm floating wrist pins with dual oil holes for better pin lubrication, and the included ring set is a premium gas-nitrided 1.0/1.2/2.8 set built for high-performance durability. For a cast piston at this price, the feature set is serious.

Works With OEM or Forged Rods

An important install detail, so get this right.

These are compatible with both OEM and aftermarket forged connecting rods, with one key difference: on OEM rods, do not use the wrist pin clips; on aftermarket forged rods, do use the wrist pin clips. Follow that for your rod choice, it's determined by the rod, not preference. If you're pairing these with forged rods, we stock B-series forged connecting rods to complete the rotating assembly.

This is for the B-series builder putting together an all-motor B16 or B18 who wants proven, affordable pistons with real strength, hard-anodized tops, Teflon skirts, and a quality gas-nitrided ring set, without paying full forged prices. Pick your bore size, choose the compression ratio that suits your block, head, and fuel, decide with or without rings, and use the right pin-clip setup for your rods. Twenty-plus years of proven results behind them, and the value to build a strong bottom end without breaking the budget.
