Whiteline Rear Trailing Arm Bushing for 88-00 Civic and 94-01 Integra - Part #W63621

If the rear of your DC2 or EK steps out under braking, wears the inside edge of the rear tires and clunks over expansion joints, the trailing arm pivot bushing is almost always the reason. It is the single biggest bushing in the rear suspension and it is the one everyone forgets. This Whiteline rear trailing arm bushing replaces the worn rubber in the center pivot on the 1988-2000 Civic, CRX and del Sol and the 1990-2001 Integra.

What It Is and Why It Works

The trailing arm on these chassis locates the rear knuckle fore and aft, so when the pivot bushing goes soft the whole rear wheel moves backward under braking and the toe changes every time you touch the pedal. That is the twitchy rear end feeling on an old Integra that people blame on the shocks. Whiteline's replacement is a synthetic elastomer bushing that is firmer than the factory rubber and has internal grease reservoirs, so it holds the arm still without the squeak that a dry poly bushing develops. You keep the factory pivot pin and outer shell and just replace the rubber inside, which is why it costs a fraction of a complete pivot assembly.

On a track-prepped DC2 this is the bushing that makes the rear feel planted again; on a daily EK it is what makes the alignment finally hold and the rear tires wear evenly.

This is the rear trailing arm center pivot bushing for the double-wishbone rear on the 1988-2001 Civic, CRX, del Sol and Integra. Whiteline's note is that it replaces the rubber only and reuses the factory pin and outer shell. The 1986-1989 first gen Integra uses a different bushing, Whiteline W61509.

What to Know Before You Buy

The old rubber has to come out of the shell and the new bushing has to be pressed into it, so this is a press job. On a car that has lived in the rust belt the pivot pin can be seized in the bushing sleeve and take real effort to get out; plan for that before you start on a Saturday afternoon. If the outer shell is rusted through, you need a new pivot assembly, not just this bushing.

This is firmer than stock. You will hear a bit more from the rear over sharp bumps and the ride is a little more direct. Grease the bushing and the pin with the supplied grease; it is what keeps the reservoirs full and the bushing quiet.

Do both sides, and while you are in there check the lower control arm bushings and the compensator arm bushings; on a 25-year-old Honda they are all the same age. Get a rear alignment after, since the trailing arm position sets rear toe. If your car is a 1986-1989 Integra, order the W61509 instead, this one does not fit.
