Whiteline Front Lower Control Arm Offset Bushing Kit for RSX and Civic - Part #KCA547

The DC5 RSX and 8th gen Civic Si both run out of positive caster once you lower them, and that is why the steering goes light and the car wants to wander on the highway. This Whiteline front lower control arm inner bushing kit for the 2002-2006 RSX and 2000-2010 Civic replaces the soft factory bushings with offset synthetic elastomer ones that push the arm forward, adding static caster and tightening up the front end at the same time.

What It Is and Why It Works

Caster is what makes a car track straight and load the outside front tire properly as you turn in. Honda gives the RSX and Civic a modest amount from the factory and there is no adjustment built in. Whiteline's offset bushing moves the inner pivot of the lower arm, which tips the strut back a fraction and adds caster you cannot get on an alignment rack. The bushing itself is a low-compliance synthetic elastomer, so the arm also stops flexing under braking and cornering loads, which is where the sharper steering feel and the more consistent alignment come from.

On a K20A2 Type-S on coilovers, the difference is a heavier, more connected steering feel and noticeably better stability at speed. On an FA5 Si it is the same story. This is a kit for both sides; it does not include the arms.

Whiteline and its dealers list KCA547 for the 2002-2006 RSX and the 2000-2010 Civic, which covers both the 7th gen EP and ES chassis and the 8th gen FA and FG including the K20Z3 Si. Note that we also list Whiteline KCA479 for the 2001-2006 Civic and RSX; that kit is the double-offset front-and-rear bushing set, while KCA547 is the lower inner offset kit. What to Know Before You Buy

Press work is required. The factory bushings are bonded into the aluminum lower arm on the RSX and into the stamped arm on the 8th gen, and both need a proper press and the right size drivers. Budget a couple of hours per side if you are doing it yourself, or pull the arms and let a shop press them. Do not try to burn the old bushings out of an aluminum arm.

Offset bushings only work if you install them clocked the right way. Whiteline's instructions show the orientation; if you get one side backwards you will pull caster out instead of adding it and the car will pull. Check both arms before torquing.

Expect a firmer ride at the front and a little more road noise than the factory rubber. Grease everything in the packet on assembly. Get a front alignment afterward, this kit changes caster and camber enough that the toe will be off.
