PRODUCT DETAILS

Whiteline Inner Front Control Arm Bushing Kit 16-21 Civic

The front lower control arms on a 10th gen Civic pivot on two inner bushings per side, and Honda made both of them soft. If your FC sedan or FK7 hatch feels lazy on turn-in or wanders under hard braking, worn or deflecting front lower control arm bushings are the usual suspect. This Whiteline kit, part number W53618, replaces the inner front bushing, the forward of the two pivots, on both arms. The rear pivot is a separate part: Whiteline covers it with the W53619 inner rear insert kit, and most people do both positions in the same afternoon since the car is already apart.

What It Is and Why It Works

W53618 is a full replacement bushing kit, not an insert. You press the factory rubber out of each arm and press in polyurethane: the box holds 4 bushings, 2 steel crush tubes, and 2 washers, which covers both front arms. Whiteline's synthetic elastomer holds its shape under load far better than tired factory rubber, so the arm stays located where the alignment rack put it. On the road that shows up as quicker steering response, more consistent caster under braking, and a front end that stops feeling rubbery when you load it up. The same arms sit under the 2.0L K20C2 cars and the 1.5T L15B7 cars, and the Civic Si uses this kit too. Be clear about the trade: polyurethane is firmer than rubber, so you will feel a little more road texture through the chassis. It is never quieter or softer than stock, and anyone promising otherwise is selling something.

Fitment

Year Make Model Trim Engine
2016-2021 Honda Civic (FC sedan/coupe, FK7 hatch) LX, EX, Sport, Touring 2.0L K20C2, 1.5T L15B7
2017-2020 Honda Civic Si Si 1.5T L15B9

This kit does not fit the FK8 Civic Type R. Whiteline lists W53618 for the FC and FK chassis only; the Type R front end is different at this position. If you have an FK8 and want the rear pivot done, the W53619 inner rear kit is the one Whiteline lists for your car.

What to Know Before You Buy

This is the harder half of the front lower arm job. The arms come off the car and the old bushings get pressed out, so you need a hydraulic press or a shop that has one. If that is not your garage, grab the W53619 inner rear inserts first: those fill the factory bushing in place with no pressing and get you most of the braking stability gain for an hour of work. Doing both positions together is what we would do, one alignment, one afternoon, whole arm sorted. Grease the bushings properly on install, that is where poly squeaks come from, and book a front alignment afterward because toe will move. Skip this kit if you want the cabin to stay showroom quiet; keep it on the list if you want the front end of your FC or FK7 to react like the chassis Honda actually built.
