Wavetrac Limited Slip Differential - Honda B16A/B17A/B18A/B18B (60.309.160WK)

Ever floor it coming out of a corner and feel the inside front wheel just light up while the car barely moves? That's your open diff doing exactly what open diffs do, sending power to whichever wheel has the least grip. The Wavetrac fixes that. It's a helical gear limited slip differential, built from the ground up by Autotech Driveline in the USA, and it's become the go-to swap for anyone running a B-series who's tired of one-wheel burnouts on the way out of every turn. Drop it in and that power finally goes where it can do something, both front wheels pulling instead of one wheel spinning and the other just along for the ride.

Here's Why An Open Diff Holds You Back

An open diff sends power to the wheel that's easiest to spin, which sounds harmless until you're loading up the chassis mid-corner and your inside wheel lifts or unloads. At that exact moment, an open diff just gives up on that wheel and dumps all the power into spinning it uselessly, so you get wheel hop, a chirp from the tire, and a car that doesn't pull out of the corner the way it should. Cheaper clutch-type LSDs help, but they wear out, get grabby, and need fluid changes to keep working. You feel it most in a front-wheel-drive car with real power, because that's exactly when an open diff costs you the most.

Built To Keep Working When Other Diffs Quit

This is where the Wavetrac earns its reputation. Most gear-type LSDs, including Torsen and Quaife style units, go quiet the instant a wheel unloads, the same problem as an open diff, just less often. Wavetrac's patented wave profile is built specifically to solve that. As the side gears rotate against each other under a near-zero load, the wave ramps climb and push the gears apart, which creates internal load and keeps both wheels driving instead of letting one spin free. It kicks in automatically whenever the car needs it and backs off the rest of the time, so the car still drives normally around town. You get the grip when you're pushing and none of the clunky behavior when you're not.

9310 Steel Gears, ARP Fasteners, Built To Outlast The Car

The internals are 9310 alloy steel, the same high-strength gear material used in serious motorsport applications, run inside a case-hardened steel body. Every fastener is ARP, so nothing in this diff is the weak link. It's a gear diff with no clutch packs to wear out and no fluid additive to chase, so it's built to run the life of the car without a rebuild. Autotech Driveline backs every Wavetrac with a transferable Limited Lifetime Warranty, which tells you how confident they are that this thing isn't coming back.

Drops Into Your B-Series Case

This Wavetrac is built for the 4.33 inch ring gear B-series case, so it covers a wide spread of Civic, Integra, and Del Sol applications running the B16A, B17A, B18A, or B18B. If your car's already making good power, or you're planning to, this is the diff that lets that power actually get to the ground instead of getting wasted on the inside wheel. Heads up before you order: this is the diff itself, you'll still need to press it into your existing differential case during a transmission rebuild, so plan the install around that.
