Vibrant Multilayer Graphite Exhaust Gaskets: 1455-1459, 1461-1466
Got the exhaust apart for a new section or a repair? Match the flange before you order the gasket. Vibrant makes these multilayer graphite exhaust gaskets for its two-bolt and three-bolt flanges, with eleven pattern and tube-size combinations to choose from. You'll receive a single gasket under the part number you choose.
A custom exhaust on your Honda or Acura can use different flanges at different joints. A Civic or Integra application search won't tell you which one it is. Take a look at the actual joint, particularly if you've got a mix of components along the exhaust.
Why graphite belongs at this joint
Graphite gives you a conformable sealing surface at the flange. As you compress it between flat flange faces, it can follow small irregularities in those surfaces. Vibrant cuts its multilayer gaskets to match its flanges, so the opening and bolt holes are already laid out for that connection.
If those are the flanges on your car, that's a good reason to stay with the matching gasket. Vibrant cuts its multilayer graphite gaskets for the corresponding flanges, so you won't have to select sheet material and lay out your own opening and bolt holes. You can get on with putting the exhaust back together instead.
Vibrant also lists these as the matching gaskets for its round-tube 304 stainless steel flange range. You'll want both on your parts list before you start welding.
Work from the flange pattern
For a 3-inch joint, you've got two choices on this page. The 1458 matches Vibrant's two-bolt flange; the 1463 matches its three-bolt flange. You'll need the bolt pattern as well as that 3-inch tube size to tell them apart. It's an easy detail to leave out of a parts list when you're working through a whole exhaust.
You'll also find both patterns at 2.25, 2.50 and 2.75 inches. At the ends of the range, the choices differ: 2 inches and 4 inches are two-bolt options, while 3.50 inches is a three-bolt option. Check the table when you're planning a new exhaust, before you choose flanges around a gasket that isn't offered in that combination.
| MPN | Bolt pattern | Matching tube size |
| 1455 | 2 Bolt | 2.00 in |
| 1456 | 2 Bolt | 2.25 in |
| 1457 | 2 Bolt | 2.50 in |
| 1465 | 2 Bolt | 2.75 in |
| 1458 | 2 Bolt | 3.00 in |
| 1459 | 2 Bolt | 4.00 in |
| 1461 | 3 Bolt | 2.25 in |
| 1462 | 3 Bolt | 2.50 in |
| 1466 | 3 Bolt | 2.75 in |
| 1463 | 3 Bolt | 3.00 in |
| 1464 | 3 Bolt | 3.50 in |
Before you put it back together
If you've got a warped flange, a new gasket won't straighten it. If you've got a warped flange or the pipework holds the faces at an angle, address that with the joint apart. The faces should meet without you dragging the exhaust into position with the bolts. Graphite's ability to conform to small imperfections doesn't make up for that sort of mismatch.
You're choosing by matching tube size in the selector. The 2.50-inch option goes with that size of tube. You're not measuring 2.50 inches across the gasket or between its bolt holes. If you've got another brand of flange, its opening, bolt holes and outer edge all need to line up with the gasket.
These are flat flange gaskets. You won't use one of these flat gaskets at a donut seat or a V-band connection. You'll need the seal or connection parts that belong to those assemblies instead. Flanges, bolts and nuts aren't included here, so put those on your order separately if you're building a new joint.
Universal fabrication component for compatible flat exhaust flanges. Verify opening, hole spacing and sealing-face geometry; vehicle make and tube size alone do not establish compatibility.
Confirm the selected gasket matches both flange faces and bolt locations. Follow the flange and fastener manufacturer's assembly and tightening instructions.
Material: multilayer graphite. Connection: compatible flat two-bolt or three-bolt exhaust flange. Select by bolt pattern and matching tube size using the MPN table in the description.
One exhaust gasket in the selected bolt pattern and tube size. Flanges, bolts and nuts are not included.
