Synchrotech Bearing & Seal Rebuild Kit - Honda/Acura B-Series Transmission

The Synchrotech bearing and seal rebuild kit covers the wear items that make a B-series transmission whine, leak, or feel rough: the bearings and seals. It includes the same bearings and seals found in Synchrotech's Master Synchro Rebuild Kit, but on its own, so if your synchros, sleeves, and springs are still in good shape, you can refresh just the bearings and seals without paying for parts you don't need. It's the right kit when the gearbox shifts fine but has developed bearing noise or is leaking at the seals.

When To Use This Kit

Bearings and seals wear on a different schedule than synchros. If your transmission is howling from a tired bearing, or dripping from the axle, input, or shift rod seals, but still shifts cleanly through every gear, you don't necessarily need a full synchro rebuild. This kit lets you replace the bearings and seals while the trans is apart and leave the good synchros alone, saving money and time. If your synchros are also worn (grinding or baulking into gear), step up to the Master Synchro Rebuild Kit instead.

Pick Your Transmission Group

This kit is offered for three B-series transmission groups, so match yours and the contents are tailored to it:

• Cable Y1 / Y2 / S1 / A1 / J1: 4 shaft bearings, 2 axle seals, input seal, shift rod seal, and a new dust boot
• Y80 / S80 / S4C / S21 / Y21: 5 shaft bearings, 2 axle seals, input seal, shift rod seal, and a new dust boot
• Cable YS1 (1992-1993): 5 shaft bearings, bearing clip, 2 axle seals, input seal, shift rod seal, and a new dust boot

Do It While It's Apart

The bearings and seals are only accessible with the transmission out and open, which is the labor-intensive part of the job. If you're already in there, replacing all of these at once is the smart move, a single worn bearing or seal left in place is what sends you back in later. Fresh bearings quiet the gearbox, and fresh seals stop the leaks.
