Synchrotech Synchro Spring Set (SP117) - K-Series & L15B, 1-6

Springs are the part nobody thinks about and everybody should. They're what pushes the blocker ring against the cone to start the synchronizing action every time you shift, and when they weaken, the synchro can't engage the cone firmly enough to do its job. You get a grind that feels exactly like a worn synchro even when the synchro itself still has plenty of material left. This is the complete 1-6 spring set for K-series and L15B 6-speed transmissions.

Which Part Do You Actually Need?

Three parts, three different symptoms. Match yours before you spend money.

Symptom Likely Part
Grinds going into gearSynchro (and springs)
Pops out of gear under loadSleeve
Binds, feels notchy, or blocks out mid-shiftHub

Springs live in that first row alongside the synchros, which is exactly why they're worth replacing together. Tired springs produce the same grind a worn synchro does, so putting new synchros in behind old springs means you've only fixed half the problem.

Always Replace Springs With Synchros

This is the practical advice worth the most on this page. If you've got the transmission open to do synchros, put fresh springs in at the same time. They've been cycling and heating alongside everything else for the same number of years and the same number of shifts, so they're tired even if they look fine. Springs are the cheapest part in the whole assembly and among the most annoying to have to go back in for. Reusing them behind a fresh set of carbon or brass synchros is how a rebuild ends up feeling only slightly better than it did before.

Complete 1 Through 6

This is the full set, covering every gear position from 1st through 6th, so you're not sourcing springs individually or coming up short mid-assembly. Open the box, and everything you need for the whole transmission is there.

6-Speed Transmissions Only

Check this before you order. This set is for 6-speed transmissions. Plenty of cars in this era came with 5-speeds, so confirm what you've got before buying. If your transmission is a 5-speed, this isn't the right set.

Fitment

This spring set fits 2002-2020 Honda and Acura 6-speed transmissions running K20, K24, or L15B engines:

Model Notes
Acura RSXK20 6-speed
Acura TSXK24 6-speed
Acura Integra Type R (ITR)DC5
Honda Civic Type REP3, FN2, FD2
Honda Civic SiK20 / K24 / L15B
Honda Civic EX-TL15B

That L15B coverage is worth noting, since it brings the 10th gen Civic and Si into the same set as the older K-series cars.

Who Should Grab This Set

This is for anyone with the transmission apart doing synchro work, and for the builder who understands that a rebuild is only as good as its weakest reused part. Springs are inexpensive, they're a known wear item, and they directly affect whether your new synchros actually engage the way they should. If you're in there, put them in.
