Airbag Or No Airbag Matters

Pull a steering wheel with an airbag in it and you've disconnected part of the SRS circuit. The car notices, and you get a warning light on the dash that stays on.

Where applicable, these come with an SRS harness plug that completes the circuit so the light doesn't illuminate. That's the difference between a clean install and a permanent reminder on your dash.

Install It Dry And Torque It Properly

One instruction that matters more than it sounds.

The steering wheel retaining nut goes on without grease, torqued to 30Nm. Greasing that thread changes the clamping force you get at a given torque, which means a nut that reads correct on the wrench but isn't holding as designed.

On the component connecting your hands to the front wheels, that's not a spot to improvise. Clean threads, no lubricant, 30Nm.
