PRODUCT DETAILS
SpeedFactory Racing Lightweight Rear Trailing Arm Kit with Staging Brakes, FWD - Part #SF-08-001
On a front wheel drive drag Honda, the stock rear trailing arms, hubs, rotors, and calipers are dead weight hanging off the back of a car that only needs its rear wheels to roll straight and hold in the beams. The SpeedFactory Racing Lightweight Rear Trailing Arm Kit with Staging Brakes replaces that entire assembly on an 88-00 Civic, CRX, or 90-01 Integra with lightweight arms, spindles, and staging brakes, and takes 50 pounds or more off the rear of the car in one job.
What It Is and Why It Works
This is the Kaizenspeed lightweight trailing arm design, which SpeedFactory picked up and updated when Kaizenspeed moved on to other products. The arms bolt into the factory trailing arm pickup points and keep your existing rear shocks and lower control arms, so it isn't a full rear suspension redesign. What changes is the mass: lightweight arms, a lightweight spindle, half-weight slotted staging rotors, and small calipers replace the cast Honda arm, hub, and full-size brake assembly. Fifty pounds off the rear of a front wheel drive car does two things. The car is lighter, and the weight that's left is further forward, over the tires doing the work.
The arms are also built to stretch the wheelbase. They're adjustable from stock length out to plus 2 inches, and SpeedFactory designed them so the lower control arm sits straight at plus three quarters of an inch. Going out to the full 2 inches relies on bushing deflection unless you're running spherical bearing lower arms. A longer wheelbase resists weight transfer on the launch, which is why every serious FWD drag car does it. Camber and toe adjusters are in the box. So are both rear wheel speed sensor brackets: one that holds a factory ABS sensor reading the factory ring, for Hondata traction control, and one that holds a Hall effect sensor for a standalone ECU. Stainless lines, fittings, and every bolt and washer are included. The SF-08-001 kit adds new 4x100 wheel bearing and hub assemblies with axle nuts; the SF-08-002 kit leaves them out if yours are fresh.

Front wheel drive drag cars only. Replaces the factory rear trailing arms entirely and keeps the factory-style rear shocks and lower control arms. 4x100 wheel bolt pattern. For an AWD conversion, see the HCP AWD trailing arm kit and SpeedFactory's AWD / FWD staging brake kit instead.
What to Know Before You Buy
The brakes in this kit are for staging with a hydraulic handbrake and nothing else. They will not slow the car from the foot pedal, they are not for shutdown at the top end, and they are not for the street. This is a drag car part, sold for offroad use only, and the same goes for the arms. Inspect the rotors, pads, and every fastener at each event.
This is the front wheel drive kit. If your car is going AWD, you need the HCP AWD trailing arm kit and SpeedFactory's AWD / FWD staging brake kit, not this. Choose the hub option by the condition of your bearings; a 25 year old Honda hub is rarely worth reusing on a car that launches hard, so most people take SF-08-001. Plan on a hydraulic handbrake if you don't have one, and if you're setting the wheelbase past three quarters of an inch, price spherical bearing lower arms at the same time. Replacement rotors are SpeedFactory's ultra lightweight staging rotor, sold each, and the M DHALL 437 Hall sensor is sold separately.
