SpeedFactory K-Series SFWD/AWD Air-to-Air Intercooler

This is a purpose-built drag race intercooler, not a street part. SpeedFactory designed it for K-series cars running in top tier SFWD and AWD classes, rated at 1400HP+, and part number SF-06-099 is the same unit currently cooling cars in competition at boost levels past 50 psi, per SpeedFactory. If you're building a K24 that will see the far end of a quarter mile at that kind of power, this is the class of hardware the competition is running.

What It Is and Why It Works

The core is 6 inches thick and one piece, which is the whole design argument. Most air-to-air setups at this power level get there by going wide, and wide means intercooler piping eating both front corners of the car. Going thick instead achieves the cooling in a smaller footprint and leaves those corners open for the rest of what a serious build needs to put up there.

The end tanks are the detail worth understanding before you order. They're offset height, and SpeedFactory shaped them that way specifically to work with K-series centerfeed or side outlet intake manifolds. If you're running either, the tank geometry lines up with where your charge pipe actually needs to go instead of fighting it. The tanks are hand formed from 5052 H32 aluminum and fully TIG welded in house at SpeedFactory, which is where the money on a part like this goes: not into a stamped mass-produced tank, but into somebody building it.

Inlet and outlet tubes are bead rolled, 3 inch in and 3.5 inch out, and deliberately made short so you have room to route piping in a tight engine bay. M8x1.25mm aluminum mounting bungs come attached, and the SpeedFactory logo is stenciled on the core face.

Fitment

Universal for K-series turbocharged builds. This is a race intercooler, not a bolt-in kit for any specific chassis, so there's no year and model list that means anything here. It gets used across K-swapped Civics, Integras, RSXs, and purpose-built SFWD and AWD race cars, and the mounting bungs and short tubes exist so you can integrate it into whatever the car needs.

The one compatibility question that actually matters: intake manifold configuration. The offset-height end tanks are shaped for K-series centerfeed or side outlet manifolds. Know which one you're running before you order, and if your setup is unusual, call before you buy rather than after.

What to Know Before You Buy

Understand what you're buying and what you still need. This is an intercooler, not a kit. No charge piping, no couplers, no clamps, no brackets beyond the mounting bungs. On a build at this level that's expected, since nobody at 1400 horsepower is using off-the-shelf piping anyway, but budget for the fabrication that follows.

Vibrant Performance Vanjen clamps are available on this intercooler, with the Vanjen flanges welded on before it ships. That has to be arranged before the order goes in, not after, so contact us first if you want them and we'll get it set up with SpeedFactory. Vanjen connections are worth considering at this power level, since a boost leak at 50 psi is a different kind of problem than a boost leak at 20.

Be honest about whether this is your part. At 1400HP+ and a 6 inch core, this is competition hardware for people already deep into a build with the turbo, fuel system, and management to match. If you're making 500 or 600 on a street car, SpeedFactory and others build intercoolers sized for that, and you'll spend less and package it easier. This one earns its keep when the rest of the car has already outgrown everything else.
