SpeedFactory Racing HPX Dual Backdoor Front Mount Intercooler DBD-1200 - Part #SF-06-088
Past 1000 horsepower on a B-series or K-series, intercooler thickness stops being a nice-to-have. The SpeedFactory Racing HPX Dual Backdoor Front Mount Intercooler, the DBD-1200, is the top of SpeedFactory's dual backdoor line: a 4.5 inch thick core rated for 1000 to 1200 horsepower, with a 3 inch inlet and a 3.5 inch outlet so the cooled charge has a bigger pipe on its way to the throttle body.
What It Is and Why It Works
The core is a 24 by 12 by 4.5 inch bar and plate with SpeedFactory's staggered fin arrangement. A full inch thicker than the DBD-1000, that extra depth is what lets it shed the heat a big T4 or T6 frame turbo puts into the charge at 40 plus psi. The outlet steps up to 3.5 inches because at this airflow a 3 inch pipe on the cold side starts to cost you pressure; the inlet stays 3 inch to match the compressor outlet on most turbos in this range.
Like the rest of the family, the dual backdoor tanks send both pipes out the rear of the end tanks, straight at the turbo and throttle body, so an EG, EK, or DC2 front end can carry a 1200 horsepower intercooler with piping that still clears the crank pulley and the frame rails. The tanks are hand-formed 5052 aluminum, TIG welded in house, with M8 x 1.25 mounting bungs already welded on. SpeedFactory stencils its logo on the face of every core.

Fitment
| Year | Make | Model | Trim | Engine |
| All | Universal | Honda / Acura | Any | Any turbo B, D, H, F, K, or J-Series |
SpeedFactory states this fits most Honda and Acura chassis with modification. Measure the frame rails and core support before ordering; the overall width including tanks, not the core width, is what has to clear. On an EG, EK, DC2, EP3, or DC5 plan on trimming the bumper support and fabricating brackets to the welded M8 bungs.
What to Know Before You Buy
Check the number that matters: 35.25 inches overall width including tanks, and 4.5 inches thick. That's wider than the DBD-1000 and deeper than anything else in the dual backdoor line, and it will need bumper support trimming on every Honda chassis. It also sits closer to a tucked radiator than the thinner cores do, so build proper fan shrouding and duct the radiator or you'll cool the charge and cook the coolant.
Buy this core only if you're actually making four-digit power. Below that, the DBD-1000 is thinner, lighter, and cools plenty, and the DBD-850 covers most turbo Hondas. Match your cold side piping to the 3.5 inch outlet; a 3.5 to 3 inch reducer right off the intercooler wastes what you paid for. Standard silicone couplers and T-bolt clamps fit the bead rolled ends, and Vanjen quick-release flanges have to be arranged with SpeedFactory before the order because they're welded at build. These are built to order.
