SpeedFactory Racing Honda B-Series AWD Input Shaft Speed Sensor Mounting Tab - Part #SF-05-520
On a clutch car making real power, the number you want and can't get from the factory sensors is input shaft speed. Compare it to engine RPM and you can see clutch slip on the log instead of guessing from the smell. The SpeedFactory Racing Input Shaft Speed Sensor Mounting Tab is a laser cut steel bracket that gives you a place to mount a Hall effect sensor inside the 1998-2001 CR-V SBXM transmission used in B-series AWD swaps.
What It Is and Why It Works
The SBXM case has no provision for an input shaft sensor, so SpeedFactory made a tab that welds to the factory reverse selector arm and positions an M DHALL 437 V2 sensor over the first gear teeth on the input shaft. Every tooth that passes the sensor is a pulse, your ECU counts pulses, and you get input shaft RPM on the same log as engine RPM. When the two diverge under load, that gap is your clutch slipping. This is how SpeedFactory logs clutch behavior on its own B-series AWD cars.
This is the tab only. You supply the sensor, and the nuts that come with the M DHALL sensor are what you tack to the tab. It works with the SBXM transmission in any chassis, so it doesn't care whether the transmission is in an EG, an EK, or a DC2.

What to Know Before You Buy
The transmission has to be open to install this, so do it while the case is split for a transfer case or gear set job. The install per SpeedFactory: tack weld one of the sensor's nuts to the tab on the side nearest the input shaft, mark and weld the tab to the reverse selector in a spot that clears the selector's full travel and puts the sensor over the first gear teeth, thread on the second nut and the sensor, set the air gap, and lock it down. Then notch the case for the sensor wiring and seal the notch with Hondabond when you close it up.
Check that the selector arm still moves through its whole range after welding; if the tab or sensor touches anything, you'll lose reverse or worse. Order the M DHALL 437 V2 sensor at the same time since the tab is useless without it. If you're already buying SpeedFactory's billet transfer case for this transmission, this is a cheap add while the builder has it apart.

- Tack weld one of the nuts that comes with the sensor to the tab on the side closest to the input shaft.
- Mark and then weld the mounting tab to your reverse selector in a position that clears the full range of motion of the arm and allows you to place the hall sensor so that it reads off the 1st gear teeth.
- Thread the other nut that comes with the hall sensor on, then thread in the sensor and adjust angle and sensor air gap as needed.
- Tighten the locknut.
- Notch the transmission housing to allow the sensor wiring to pass through and seal with Hondabond when closing the transmission.
