So you ditched the distributor's ignition duties and went COP for the reliability. But here's the thing nobody tells you up front, you've still got that distributor housing sitting there with its internal sensors that your ECU needs, and now there's an open cap area where the old cap used to live. That's where the SpeedFactory cap delete comes in. It seals that off clean with a billet aluminum plate that fits right onto your factory distributor, so you keep the sensors the ECU's reading while ditching the cap and all the failure-prone ignition bits you no longer need. Here's Why You Need This After A COP Swap
When you convert to coil-on-plug, you're moving the spark job out to individual coils on each plug. But your engine still relies on the distributor housing for its internal sensors, that's how the ECU knows crank and cam position to fire everything correctly. So you can't just pull the whole distributor out. You've got to keep the housing and its sensors in place. Beyond that, the right part number depends on your specific engine and distributor, so match yours up before you buy. The SF-02-082 covers B16, B18A/B (LS), D15, and D16 distributors. The SF-02-083 is for the USDM/JDM B18C/C1/C5 GSR and Type R distributors. Check your distributor's OEM part number against the fitment list below to make sure you grab the correct one.
