SpeedFactory -12AN Black Hose End Fitting

Somewhere between adding a second fuel pump and plumbing an oil cooler, -10AN stops being enough and you step up. These are SpeedFactory Racing -12AN black anodized hose end fittings, sold one at a time in straight and 180 degree, for the large diameter runs on a boosted B-series or K-series where flow matters more than hiding the line.

What It Is and Why It Works

These are reusable swivel hose ends machined from aluminum and black anodized. The swivel is the part that saves your afternoon. Once the hose is assembled you can still clock the fitting to point where you need it, so you're not twisting a stiff braided line to line up a flare that ended up 30 degrees off.

-12AN means a 1-1/16 inch by 12 thread and a 3/4 inch nominal hose ID, which is the same across every manufacturer building to the AN standard. That's the whole appeal of AN plumbing on a build: you can mix a SpeedFactory hose end with a fuel rail adapter from somewhere else and the 37 degree flare seals metal to metal without tape or sealant.

The 180 degree end is the specialty piece and worth understanding before you order one. It exists for the tight doubleback, coming off a surge tank or a rail and running the hose straight back the way it came, in a space where a 90 plus a length of hose won't physically fit. On most K-swaps you'll use a handful of straights and one 180 if you use one at all.

Fitment

Application Universal, no vehicle-specific fitment

AN plumbing doesn't have a year and model list. What decides the part is the system you're plumbing and the hose already in your hands. -12AN shows up on high volume fuel feed for a big E85 setup, oil cooler and turbo drain lines, and coolant runs on a tucked radiator build.

What to Know Before You Buy

These are sold each, and every hose has two ends. Count the whole run before you check out, because nothing stalls a build weekend like being one fitting short on a Saturday afternoon.

The compatibility question that actually matters is hose type. These are built for braided hose with a rubber inner core, the stainless braid or nylon braid style that SpeedFactory sells alongside them. They will not work correctly on PTFE hose. PTFE needs its own hose ends with a separate olive or ferrule that bites the liner, and the two families don't interchange in either direction. If you're running PTFE, buy PTFE ends. Getting this wrong shows up as a slow weep you'll chase for weeks.

Fuel compatibility lives in the hose, not the fitting. The aluminum end doesn't care what runs through it. SpeedFactory rates its braided race hose as E85 safe per manufacturer, but plenty of generic rubber core hose isn't happy on high ethanol long term, and it eventually starts weeping vapor even when nothing is visibly leaking. Match the hose to the fuel and the fitting takes care of itself.

Assembling braided hose the first time is where people damage parts. Wrap the cut with tape before you cut it so the braid doesn't unravel, use a cutoff wheel rather than snips, and use aluminum AN wrenches and soft vise jaws. A steel wrench on an anodized fitting leaves marks you'll look at forever. Do not put thread sealant or tape on the flare, since the seal is the 37 degree metal face and sealant only makes it worse.

Plan the whole run before ordering. Most builds need a mix of angles rather than all straights, so lay the routing out with the engine in the bay, count what each leg actually needs, and grab the matching -12AN braided hose at the same time.
