SpeedFactory LS VTEC Conversion Dowel Pins - Honda/Acura B Series

Building an LS VTEC? You need these SpeedFactory conversion dowel pins to bolt your VTEC head to your LS block. Factory dowel pins are different sizes between non-VTEC B18A/B or B20 blocks and VTEC B16/B18C heads. Without the right dowel pins, your head won't locate properly on the block, which causes head gasket failure and alignment issues. These conversion dowel pins are precision machined and hardened from 4140 chromoly steel, so they won't deflect under heavy power loads and they eliminate the need to drill and ream your dowel pin holes.

Why You Need Conversion Dowel Pins for LS VTEC

When you put a VTEC head (B18C, B16, or B17) on a non-VTEC block (B18A/B, B20B, or B20Z), the factory dowel pin holes don't match up. The non-VTEC block has smaller dowel pins than the VTEC head. Without conversion dowel pins, you have two options: drill and ream the dowel holes in your block to fit the VTEC head dowel pins, or use these conversion dowel pins that are sized to fit the non-VTEC block and the VTEC head. The conversion dowel pins are way easier and don't require machining your block.

Precision Machined and Hardened 4140 Chromoly Steel

SpeedFactory machines these dowel pins from 4140 chromoly steel, then hardens them. The chromoly steel is strong enough that the pins won't deflect or bend under heavy power loads. Your cylinder head stays exactly where it should, which prevents head gasket failure and keeps everything aligned properly. Cheap dowel pins can bend or deflect when you're making big power, which shifts the head and blows the gasket.

No Drilling or Reaming Required

These conversion dowel pins are sized to fit the smaller dowel holes in your non-VTEC block and the larger dowel holes in your VTEC head. You don't have to drill and ream your block to make the dowel holes bigger. Just press the factory dowel pins out of your non-VTEC block, press these conversion dowel pins in, and bolt your VTEC head on. It's that simple.
