Sparco QRT-C Carbon Fiber FIA Racing Seat - Large

Finding a genuine FIA competition seat that fits a larger driver without being a heavy, bulky unit is harder than it should be, and the QRT-C is Sparco's lightest answer to it. It's an all-carbon-fiber seat built for a larger driver, up to a 36" waist, that still tucks into tight cockpits, and at 12 lbs fully trimmed it's the lightest "large" carbon seat on the market. FIA approved, made from pre-preg dry carbon. For a bigger driver who's been stuck between seats that don't fit them and seats that don't fit the car, this is the one that does both, at the lowest weight going.

Built For A Larger Driver, Fits A Small Cockpit

This is the QRT-C's whole reason to exist, and it's a genuinely uncommon combination.

Most seats sized for a larger driver (up to a 36" waist here) are physically big, which means they don't fit well into a tight cockpit, exactly the problem a bigger driver in a smaller car runs into. Sparco designed the QRT-C to break that: it accommodates a larger driver but was engineered for excellent fitment into small cockpits.

So if you're a bigger driver who's been fighting to find a competition seat that both fits you and fits your car, this does both. It's designed with proper ergonomics and can be raked back (with the correct mounts) for a comfortable seating position, not just crammed in.

The Lightest Large Carbon Seat Made

Weight is where the all-carbon construction earns its cost.

The shell alone is 9.5 lbs, and fully trimmed with padding and cover it's about 12 lbs, the lightest seat in the "large" size class on the market. For a competition car, every pound out of a high-mounted component like the seat matters, and getting a larger-driver seat this light is unusual. It's made from pre-preg aerospace-grade carbon fiber (dry carbon), using Sparco's QRT process.

What QRT Is

The technology behind the seat, since it's what makes it this light and strong.

QRT is a patented process developed at Sparco's OEM Composite Laboratory in Italy, based on aerospace composite technology. It produces an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, Sparco's QRT shells are among the lightest composite seat shells available, with up to a 30% total weight reduction versus traditional production methods. The visible carbon weave isn't just for looks; it's the actual structural material showing through.

FIA Approved

The credential that matters for competition.

The QRT-C is FIA approved, which is required to run in most sanctioned wheel-to-wheel competition. A seat has to be FIA homologated to be legal in those series, so this is the box that has to be ticked for serious racing.

One thing to confirm before you commit for a season: FIA seat homologations run to a specific expiry date, after which the seat is no longer competition-legal even if it's unused. If you're buying for upcoming competition, verify the homologation is valid for the period you'll be racing, standard practice with any FIA seat.

What You'll Need To Mount It

Important for a complete install, because the seat is one piece of the setup.

The QRT-C requires Sparco's specific QRT side mounts (#600QRT) to attach to the mounting hardware, these allow the seat to be raked back into that comfortable, ergonomic position, and they're sold separately.

From there, you mount the seat to the car one of two ways. A seat mount bolts the seat in at a fixed position, the lightest, most rigid option, ideal for a dedicated race car where the seating position doesn't change. Or a seat slider lets the seat move fore and aft, which you'll want if more than one driver uses the car or you need to adjust reach. Pick the seat mount for a fixed setup or the slider if you need adjustment, and match it to your chassis.

So a complete installation is the seat, the QRT side mounts, and either a seat mount or a slider for your car. Plan all three so you're not short a piece at install time.

QRT-C Or QRT-K?

Sparco makes two versions of this larger-driver seat, so here's the difference.

The QRT-C (this one) is all dry carbon fiber, the lightest option at 12 lbs trimmed, with a clean carbon weave. The QRT-K is carbon-kevlar, slightly heavier at 13 lbs, with the distinctive yellow-and-black kevlar weave. Both are the same large size (36" waist), both FIA approved, both fit tight cockpits, and both use the same QRT side mounts. The choice comes down to whether you want the absolute lightest (QRT-C) or the kevlar construction and look (QRT-K).

This is for the larger driver who wants a genuine FIA competition seat that actually fits them and fits a tight cockpit, at the lightest weight available. All dry carbon, 12 lbs trimmed, the lightest large carbon seat made, with proper ergonomics and FIA approval. Confirm the homologation period for your season, add the QRT side mounts plus a seat mount or slider for your car, and get a seat that finally fits, without the weight penalty. If you'd prefer the carbon-kevlar construction and the yellow weave, look at the QRT-K; for the lightest option, this is it.

Size: Large, fits up to a 36" waist (pants size). Shell: pre-preg aerospace-grade dry carbon fiber (QRT process). Weight: 9.5 lbs shell only, ~12 lbs fully trimmed, lightest large carbon seat available. Fabric: fire-retardant, non-slip. Homologation: FIA approved. Requires: QRT side mounts (#600QRT), plus a seat mount or slider for your chassis, sold separately. Also available: QRT-K (carbon-kevlar version).
