Seibon VSII-Style Carbon Fiber Hood - 2000-2009 Honda S2000 (AP1 / AP2)
The S2000 is already one of the best-looking cars Honda ever built, so a hood swap has to earn its place. This Seibon VSII hood does it two ways. It's hand-laid 3K 2x2 twill carbon under a gloss finish, so it looks the part sitting on an AP1 or AP2, and it pulls real weight off the front of a car that's already beautifully balanced. It also promotes heat extraction, which matters on an F-series that spends time at high rpm. It shows up show-ready with no painting required and mounts with your OEM hardware.
Read This First: Three Things You Need To Know
These aren't fine print, they're the difference between a hood that lasts and one you damage during install. Get all three sorted before the hood goes on.
Hood pins are required. A carbon hood weighs a fraction of the steel one, and the factory latch alone won't hold it reliably at speed. Pins are how this hood is meant to be secured, so budget for a set and install them properly. This isn't optional.
Don't reuse your stock hood struts. This one catches people and it's expensive when it does. Your factory shocks and springs were sized for a heavy steel hood, and putting that much force into a light carbon panel can keep the hood from closing correctly or crack it outright. Swap to gas struts rated for a carbon hood.
A heat shield is required. Carbon and sustained engine heat don't mix well, and running without proper heat shielding will damage the hood over time. Make sure you've got that handled before you drive it.
Real Weight Off The Nose
A factory steel hood is one of the heaviest bolt-on panels on the car, and it sits right out over the front axle. Going carbon takes meaningful weight off exactly where you feel it most, which is the whole point on a car built around balance and turn-in the way the S2000 is. You're not adding power, you're removing mass from the worst possible place to carry it, and that shows up in how the car changes direction.
Heat Extraction That Actually Does Something
The VSII style isn't just a shape. The venting promotes heat extraction from the engine bay, which is genuinely useful on an S2000, especially one that sees track time. Hot air trapped under the hood raises intake temps and cooks everything under there. Giving it a path out helps the whole bay run cooler, and on a high-revving F20C or F22C that's a real benefit rather than a styling excuse.
Real Carbon, And You Can Tell
There's a lot of carbon-look junk out there and it never looks right in person. Seibon has been laying up carbon for over 20 years, and on a panel this big the difference is obvious. The 3K 2x2 twill weave runs consistent across the entire hood without wandering or breaking pattern, which is genuinely hard to hold on something this size. They run a high carbon-to-resin ratio, so it's stiff and strong rather than mostly resin with a thin skin of weave on top. Underneath, there's a fiberglass skeleton bonded to the hood in matte black enamel that gives it real structural support, so it's not just a pretty shell. Every piece gets inspected before it ships.
A Note On Surface Blemishes
Being straight with you, since it comes up. This hood is show-ready out of the box and doesn't need paint. That said, occasional surface blemishes can happen as part of the manufacturing process on hand-laid carbon. If you do decide to paint it, those come out during normal sanding and pre-paint prep, which you'd be doing anyway on any body panel. If you're running it bare carbon, know that this is hand-made and small variation is part of that.
Fits Your S2000
This hood fits every 2000-2009 Honda S2000, both AP1 and AP2 chassis, including Base and CR trims. It mounts with your OEM installation hardware, and Seibon recommends professional installation.
Keep It Looking New
One tip worth two minutes a few times a year. Treat the finish like paint, keep it clean, and put wax or a ceramic spray on it. UV is what eventually dulls and yellows a carbon clear coat, and a hood takes all the sun the car ever sees. A little upkeep and it'll look as good in five years as it does the day you install it.
Who Should Run This Hood
This is for the S2000 owner who wants the front of the car lighter, cooler, and better looking in one move. Track car chasing weight and underhood temps, weekend car you want turning heads, or a build where every panel is intentional, this delivers on all of it. Sort out your pins, struts, and heat shielding, install it right, and give your AP1 or AP2 the front end it deserves.
