Seibon TS-Style Carbon Fiber Hood - 1996-2000 Honda Civic (EK)

The EK is the Civic everybody built, still is, and the hood is the biggest chunk of steel hanging off the front of it. Going carbon takes real weight off the nose of an already light car and completely changes how the front end reads. This Seibon TS-style hood is hand-laid 3K 2x2 twill under a gloss finish, it vents to pull heat out of the engine bay, and it shows up ready to bolt on with no paint required. It fits coupes, sedans, and hatchbacks across the EK range.

Read This First: 96-98 And 99-00 Are Different Hoods

This is the part that trips people up, so check your model year before you order. Honda facelifted the Civic for 1999 and changed the front end, including the grille, which means the hood shape changed with it. These are two different hoods and they do not interchange.

If you've got a 1996, 1997, or 1998 Civic, you need the 96-98 version. If you've got a 1999 or 2000, you need the 99-00 version. Same style, same construction, different shape at the front. Buying by generation instead of model year is how people end up with a hood that won't line up, so confirm your exact year and pick the matching one.

Three Things You Need Before Installation

None of these are optional, and skipping any of them will cost you the hood.

Hood pins are required. Carbon weighs a fraction of what your steel hood does, and the factory latch alone won't hold it reliably at speed. Pins are how this hood is meant to be secured, so budget for a set.

A heat shield is required. Sustained engine heat damages carbon over time. Get proper heat shielding in place before you drive the car, and especially if there's a swapped or built motor under there making more heat than Honda planned for.

Don't reuse your stock hood springs or dampers. They were sized for a heavy steel hood, and that force pushing against a light carbon panel can keep the hood from closing correctly or crack it. Use hardware appropriate for a carbon hood.

Weight Off The Nose, Heat Out Of The Bay

Two real gains here. The steel hood is one of the heaviest bolt-on panels on the car and it's sitting out over the front wheels, which is the worst place to carry mass on a front-drive chassis. Pulling that weight off is why this is such a common move on track and autocross builds. On top of that, the TS-style venting promotes heat extraction, which matters on any EK with a built or swapped engine in it. Trapped hot air raises intake temps and cooks everything under the hood, so giving it somewhere to go helps the whole bay run cooler.

Real Carbon, And You Can Tell

There's a lot of carbon-look junk out there and none of it holds up in person. Seibon has been laying up carbon for over 20 years, and on a panel this size the workmanship is obvious. The 3K 2x2 twill weave runs consistent across the whole hood without the pattern wandering or breaking, which is genuinely hard to hold on something this large. There's a fiberglass skeleton bonded to the underside for real structural support, so it's not just a shell, and the gloss finish is show-ready straight out of the box with no paint needed. Every hood gets inspected before it ships.

A Note On Surface Blemishes

Straight talk, since this is hand-laid carbon. Occasional small surface blemishes can happen during manufacturing. The hood is show-ready as delivered, but if you decide to paint it, those come out during the normal sanding and primer prep you'd do on any body panel anyway. Running it bare carbon, just know slight variation is part of a hand-made piece.

Keep It Looking New

Treat the finish like paint. Keep it clean and put wax or a ceramic spray on it a couple of times a year. UV is what eventually dulls and yellows a carbon clear coat, and a hood catches every bit of sun the car sees. A little upkeep and it'll look as good in five years as it does the day you install it.

Fits Your EK

This hood fits the 1996-2000 Honda Civic in coupe, sedan, and hatchback body styles, covering the CX, DX, EX, GX, HX, LX, Si, and Value Package trims on the EJ6, EJ7, EJ8, and EK chassis. Select the version matching your model year, 96-98 or 99-00. It reuses your OEM installation hardware, and Seibon requires professional installation.

Who Should Run This Hood

This is for the EK owner who's put work into the car and wants the front end to show it. Track build fighting for weight, a swapped hatch that needs the heat out, or a clean coupe you want people walking around at a meet, this is the biggest visual change you can make in an afternoon. Check your year, sort your pins and heat shield, and give your Civic a front end worth looking at.
