Seibon THRW-Style Carbon Fiber Hood - 2022-2026 Honda Civic Sport, Sport Touring & Si
The THRW name isn't decoration. This style comes from the Team Honda Research West Civic Si, a prototype build put together early in the FE1's life, and that's where the shape and the venting originated. So this isn't a hood somebody drew to look aggressive, it's a design that came out of people building an 11th gen Civic to actually go racing. It's hand-laid 3K 2x2 twill carbon under a gloss finish, it vents to pull heat out of the engine bay, and it takes real weight off the nose of your car.
Three Things You Need Before Installation
None of these are optional, and skipping any of them will cost you the hood.
Hood pins are required. Carbon weighs a fraction of what your steel hood does, and the factory latch alone won't hold it reliably at speed. Pins are how this hood is meant to be secured, so budget for a set.
A heat shield is required. Sustained engine heat damages carbon over time. Get proper shielding in place before you drive the car, especially on a turbocharged Si working hard.
Don't reuse your stock hood struts. This one gets expensive fast. Your factory shocks and springs were calibrated for a heavy steel hood, and that force pushing against a light carbon panel can prevent it from closing correctly or crack it outright. Use hardware rated for a carbon hood.
Weight Off The Nose, Heat Out Of The Bay
Two real gains, and both matter on a car you drive hard. The steel hood is one of the heaviest bolt-on panels on the car and it sits right over the front axle, which is the worst possible place to carry mass on a front-driver. Swapping it for carbon takes that weight off exactly where you feel it turning in. Then there's the venting, which promotes heat extraction from the engine bay. Trapped hot air raises intake temps and cooks everything under the hood, and on a turbo 1.5T that's a real consideration after a few hard laps. Giving it a path out keeps the whole bay cooler.
Real Carbon From People Who've Done It 20 Years
On a panel this large the workmanship is impossible to hide. Seibon holds a consistent 3K 2x2 twill weave across the entire hood without the pattern wandering or breaking, which is genuinely difficult at this size and immediately obvious when someone gets it wrong. A Note On Surface Blemishes
Straight talk, since this is hand-laid carbon. Occasional small surface blemishes can happen during manufacturing. The hood is show-ready as delivered, but if you ever choose to paint it, those come out during the normal sanding and primer prep you'd do on any body panel. Running it bare, just know that slight variation is part of a hand-made piece.
Keep It Looking New
Treat the finish like paint. Keep it clean and put wax or a ceramic spray on it a couple of times a year. UV is what eventually dulls and yellows a carbon clear coat, and the hood takes every bit of sun the car sees. Stay on top of it and it'll look as good in five years as it does the day you install it.
