Seibon OE-Style Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid - 2009-2014 Acura TSX
The CU2 TSX is a good looking sedan that Honda built to be sensible, which means there's weight in places that don't need it. The trunk lid is one of them: a large steel panel hung at the very back of the car, as far from the center as mass can get. Swapping it for carbon takes real weight off the rear overhang and gives the back of the car something worth looking at.
Weight Where It Matters Most
Worth understanding, because a trunk lid is better than the raw weight suggests.
Mass at the extreme ends of a car affects how willing it is to change direction. That's polar moment of inertia, and a trunk lid sits about as far rearward as anything on the vehicle. Removing weight there does more for how the car turns than removing the same weight from somewhere central.
You won't feel it like a spring change, but on a TSX that's being built for handling it's a genuine improvement rather than a cosmetic one.
OEM Shape, Nothing Added
This is a straight factory-shape reproduction. No spoiler, no ducting, no fins.
It follows the original contours exactly, which means it lines up where the steel lid came off and it doesn't change the car's proportions. From twenty feet the TSX looks stock. Up close it's obviously carbon.
That restraint suits this car. The TSX is understated by design, and a subtle build with a carbon trunk reads as considered rather than modified for its own sake.
Bolt-On, Keeps Your Factory Hardware
All your original hardware transfers. Hinges, handle, glass, and locks all mount to it, which means no fabrication and nothing to source separately.
That also keeps the trunk functional in the normal way. It opens, latches, and locks exactly as it did before, so this isn't a compromise you live with, just a lighter panel doing the same job.
Hand-Laid Wet Carbon
Seibon hand-lays these in wet carbon and finishes them with a clear gel coat.
On a panel this size the workmanship shows immediately. The weave runs consistent across the whole lid without wandering or breaking pattern, which is genuinely difficult to hold at this scale. The gel coat gives it depth and shine that reads properly in sunlight rather than looking flat.
Each piece is inspected before shipping, which matters on a large panel where a fitment or finish issue is expensive to discover after it arrives.
Keep It Looking New
Treat the finish like paint. Keep it clean and put wax or a ceramic spray on it a couple of times a year.
UV is what eventually dulls and yellows a carbon clear coat, and the trunk lid takes direct sun every hour the car is parked outside. A little upkeep and it'll look as good in five years as it does the day it goes on.
