PRODUCT DETAILS

Rywire B16A OBD0 VTEC ECU Sub Harness - 1988-1991 Honda CRX

If you're swapping a B16A into your 1988-1991 Honda CRX, this Rywire sub harness is what adds the VTEC wiring the OBD0 chassis never had. The 88-91 CRX HF and Si came with non-VTEC engines, so the factory OBD0 harness is missing the circuits a B16A needs to run VTEC and its extra sensors. This sub harness fills that gap, adding the wires for your VTEC solenoid, VTEC oil pressure switch, secondary oxygen sensor, and knock sensor so the B16A functions the way it should.

Why You Need It

A B16A is a VTEC engine, and VTEC doesn't just bolt on electrically. The engine needs the ECU to control the VTEC solenoid, read the VTEC oil pressure switch to confirm it actually engaged, and monitor the knock sensor and secondary O2 sensor. The factory HF/Si OBD0 wiring doesn't run any of those, so without this sub harness you'd be splicing in circuits by hand. This kit adds them cleanly instead, so the swap keeps full VTEC function and proper sensor feedback.

What It Adds

  • VTEC solenoid wiring
  • VTEC oil pressure switch wiring
  • Secondary (2nd) oxygen sensor wiring
  • Knock sensor wiring

Fitment

Built for the 1988-1991 Honda CRX (HF/Si) with a B16A swap, OBD0. It's the sub harness for exactly this conversion, adding the VTEC and sensor circuits the OBD0 CRX was never wired for. Confirm your chassis and ECU setup before ordering.

If you're doing a B16A swap in an 88-91 CRX, this sub harness is the clean way to get VTEC and the supporting sensors wired in without hacking your factory OBD0 harness. Add it to the swap and the engine's VTEC side works the way it's meant to.
