Description
Radium Engineering Fuel Pump Hanger - 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8) & 2016+ Honda Civic
When you start chasing real power on an FK8 Civic Type R, especially on E85 or more boost, the factory in-tank pump runs out of fuel before your build runs out of ambition. This Radium Engineering hanger replaces the entire factory in-tank pump assembly with a billet platform that runs one, two, or three high-flow aftermarket pumps, so you can feed a built or heavily tuned K20C1 whatever it needs. The FK8 is direct-injected, so this upgrades the low-pressure side, supplying the factory high-pressure pump with far more volume than stock, which is exactly what big power and the extra fuel demand of E85 call for. It drops into the factory tank location and reuses your OEM fuel level sensor, so your gauge keeps working like stock.
Choose Your Pump Configuration
The hanger comes in two versions depending on which aftermarket pump you're running, so pick the one that matches yours:
- Part 20-1080: for the AEM 50-1220 and Deatschwerks DW440 (brushless) pumps.
- Part 20-1082: for the Ti Automotive Walbro F90000267, F90000274, and F90000285 pumps. This version also supports the Fuelab 49614 and Protec 11928 brushless pumps, but those two need a few extra Radium parts (a brushless pump base and the correct triple pump block with submersible hose and clamps) to adapt.
Either version is brushless-capable and ships with enough components to run 1, 2, or 3 pumps. On a single- or dual-pump setup, the extra parts simply go unused, so the same hanger grows with your build as power goals climb. These are the pumps Radium has tested and verified; others may fit, but only these are confirmed.
Keeps Your Emissions System Intact
Here's a real advantage of this hanger over a bare race unit: it reuses not just the OEM fuel level sensor but also the factory vent and ORVR emissions ports. That means your evaporative and onboard refueling vapor recovery system stays connected and working, so the car stays street-friendly and you're not creating vent or check-engine headaches on a daily driver. The kit includes the top fittings for both ORVR and non-ORVR hangers, and for cars outside North America that don't have vent or ORVR ports, it includes a 10AN ORB plug and a 6AN ORB plug to seal those openings.
Fuel Starvation Protection
The real engineering story here is keeping the pumps fed when you're driving hard. Under heavy cornering, braking, and acceleration, fuel sloshes away from the pickup, and a starved pump means a lean spike, which is how engines get hurt. Radium builds a collector around the pump inlets and keeps it full from three sources: a one-piece anodized aluminum collector box that traps fuel around the inlets, three one-way fill valves in the bottom of the box (each flowing 355 LPH) that let fuel in but not back out, and the constant flow of fuel returning from the pressure regulator. Together they keep the collector full even at low tank levels and during aggressive driving, so the pumps always have fuel to pull.
Fittings
The merged pump outlet on the top plate is tapped for 10AN ORB (7/8"-14) female threads, with a low-profile 8AN male fitting provided to connect your aftermarket fuel line. The return inlet is tapped for 6AN ORB (9/16"-18) female threads, with a 6AN male adapter provided for your return line. All the fittings are machined low enough to clear the surrounding area under the car.
High-Current Electrical
Brushless pumps pull serious current, and that's where a lot of hangers cut corners. Instead of compact multi-pin bulkhead connectors that struggle with the load, Radium uses custom stainless steel electrical studs that handle the current cleanly, with an anti-rotation feature so the terminals can't spin loose. The connections are serviceable, hermetically sealed, and impervious to standard and exotic fuels, the in-tank wiring is insulated with chemically resistant ETFE, and non-conductive anodized aluminum acorn nuts cap the studs to prevent an accidental short. It's built to run big pumps reliably in-tank.
What You'll Need to Complete the Install
Read this before you buy, because the hanger alone doesn't plumb your car:
- An external fuel pressure regulator is required (included in Radium's matching fuel hanger plumbing kit, available for some models).
- A low-micron external fuel filter is required (also included in the plumbing kit).
- A single-pump setup can reuse the OEM fuel pump wiring, though upgrading that wiring is recommended so the pump gets full voltage and flows to its potential.
- If you run additional pumps, each one must have its own dedicated relay and fuse.
