PRODUCT DETAILS

Radium Engineering 6AN Bulkhead Plate with 5 Fittings and Nuts, Black - Part #20-0128-01

A trunk-mounted surge tank or fuel cell means fuel lines through the floor or the rear seat bulkhead, and a bulkhead fitting cinched down on carpet and sheet metal by itself looks bad and works loose. Radium's 20-0128-01 is a machined plate that sandwiches the panel and carries up to five 6AN bulkhead fittings, all included with their nuts, so the pass-through is one clean, tight assembly.

What It Is and Why It Works

The plate is a 3.25 inch diameter, 0.125 inch thick disc of billet aluminum, bright-dipped and black anodized, drilled for five 6AN bulkhead fittings. It works as one big washer: the fittings pass through the plate and the panel, the nuts pull the plate down flat, and the load spreads across the whole disc instead of five small washers crushing into carpet. Five ports covers a full surge tank install with feed, return, vent, and a spare or two, or a fuel cell with feed, return, and vent. Radium sells it as the pass-through for its single and dual pump surge tanks and it's the standard answer for a fuel cell in a hatchback trunk.

What to Know Before You Buy

Use the plate as a drill template and center punch every hole before you drill; five holes that are a little off will fight the fittings and the plate. Deburr the panel, and if you're going through carpet, cut it back to the plate's edge rather than crushing it under the disc. Put the plate on the finished side and the nuts on the back, and torque the nuts evenly. The fittings are the seal, the plate is not; you don't need sealant between the plate and the panel unless you want it watertight, in which case a bead of RTV under the disc is fine. If you need fewer than five lines, plug the spare holes with 6AN bulkhead plugs rather than leaving open holes in the floor.
