Description

Racebred Components Front Splitter Kit - 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8)

A front splitter is one of the most effective aero upgrades you can bolt to an FK8, and this Racebred Components kit is the complete setup: the splitter blade, the chassis-mounted brackets, and the hardware to mount it. At speed, air stacks up against the front of the car and wants to shove under the nose, which creates lift and makes the front end go light and vague right when you're leaning on it. The splitter is a flat shelf at the very bottom of the bumper that stops that: it builds high pressure on top and speeds the air up underneath, which generates real front downforce and kills front lift. The result is a front end that stays planted and bites harder the faster you go, so you can trust it through fast corners. It was developed with the weekend racer in mind, built around strength, durability, and not costing a fortune.

Chassis-Mounted, Quick-Release Brackets

This is where a lot of cheap splitters fail. A splitter under aero load is being pushed up and back hard, and if it's only bolted to the plastic bumper, it flexes, cracks the bumper, or tears off. Racebred's brackets mount to the chassis, so that load goes into the car's structure where it belongs instead of into your bumper. They're also quick-release, so you can pull the splitter off in minutes for parking, loading onto a trailer, or clearing a steep driveway, then bolt it right back on at the track. That combination of a solid chassis mount and easy removal is exactly what a track-driven street car wants.

9-Ply Resin-Impregnated Birch Blade

The blade is 1/2" thick, 9-ply birch that's resin-impregnated, and there's a good reason racers use this over flashier materials. It's stiff and strong enough to hold its shape under load without the layers delaminating like cheap plywood, the resin impregnation keeps water and weather from wrecking it, and when you do eventually clip a curb or a cone, it's cheap and easy to replace rather than a carbon repair bill. The leading edge is beveled and sealed for clean airflow, with no rubber or plastic trim lip to disrupt it. It's the honest, functional choice for a car that actually sees track time.

Choose Your Lip Profile and Size

Read this part carefully, because it's how you order the right kit. The splitter has to match the front lip or bumper you're running, so Racebred cuts it in a specific profile for each one. Pick the version that matches what's on your car:

  • OEM Lip
  • Mugen Lip
  • Spoon Sports Bumper
  • Varis Arising II Lip
  • Varis Bumper
  • Blitz Racing Lip
  • EVS Tuning Lip
  • J's Racing Lip

Then pick how far the splitter extends: most profiles come in 2", 3", 4", and 5". More overhang makes more downforce, but it also sits lower and further out, so it's more likely to catch driveways, speed bumps, and curbs. A 2" is the street-friendly end of the range; a 5" is for maximum front grip on a dedicated track car. Match the size to how you actually drive the car.

Add-Ons for More Downforce

If you want to push the front aero further, Racebred offers bolt-on upgrades for this splitter: diffuser tunnels under the blade for roughly a 12% downforce increase, and 3D splitter endplates (in CFRP or dry carbon) for roughly an 18% increase by cleaning up the airflow at the splitter's outer edges. They build on the same splitter rather than replacing it.
