Honda didn't give the base 7th gen Civic a rear sway bar. That's a big part of why an EM2 or ES1 understeers so hard from the factory, and it's why bolting a rear bar on isn't as simple as it sounds. Your rear lower control arms have no mounting provision for end links, because there was never anything to link to. This adapter kit solves that, giving you the mounting points and the end links you need to run a rear bar on a car that never came with one.

What This Kit Actually Does

Straightforward once you see the problem. A rear sway bar connects to your rear lower control arms through end links, and those links need somewhere to attach. On Civics that came with a factory bar, that provision is built into the arm. On the base cars, it isn't there.

The adapters bolt to your existing rear lower control arms and create that mounting point. The included end links then connect them to your new sway bar. No cutting, no welding, no swapping control arms from a different car, which is the alternative route people take and it's considerably more work.

Why A Rear Bar Transforms These Cars

Worth explaining, because the gain here is bigger than it would be on a car that already had a bar.

Without a rear bar, your Civic resists body roll almost entirely at the front. That loads the front tires harder in a corner and makes the nose push wide, which is the understeer these cars are known for. Adding rear roll stiffness shifts the balance rearward. The rear works harder, the front stops washing out, and the car rotates instead of plowing.

Going from no bar to a bar is a more dramatic change than going from a small bar to a bigger one. If you've only driven your Civic as it left the factory, expect the difference to be immediately obvious on the first corner.

Important before you order. This is the adapter kit, not the bar. It gives you the mounting hardware and end links, and you'll need a compatible Progress rear sway bar to actually mount.

It's designed to work with Progress sway bar kits 62.0102 and 62.1006, depending on your year. Check which one suits your car and order both together, otherwise you'll have adapters bolted to your control arms with nothing to connect them to.
