PRL Motorsports Silicone Intake Hose Kit - 2021+ Acura TLX Type S
The factory inlet hose on the TLX Type S is corrugated, and those pleats are the problem. Every ridge disrupts airflow right where the engine is trying to draw a clean breath. This PRL kit replaces it with smooth 4-ply silicone, which flows better, looks better, and sharpens throttle response, all without a tune.
Why The Pleats Cost You
Worth understanding, because it's the entire reason this part exists.
Honda uses a corrugated hose because it's cheap and flexes to accommodate engine movement. But those pleats create turbulence. Air moving through a ridged tube tumbles and slows against every corrugation, where smooth walls let it flow cleanly.
On a turbocharged engine that turbulence sits right in the inlet path, disrupting air before it even reaches the turbo. Smoothing it out means the engine draws more freely, which shows up as better throttle response and a small gain in power potential.
It's not a dramatic power part on its own. It's the cheap fix for an obvious restriction, and it's the kind of thing you do while you're addressing the intake path anyway.
Silicone Holds Up Better Too
Beyond flow, 4-ply silicone is simply better material for the job than the factory hose.
It handles heat and pressure better, it doesn't degrade the way rubber and plastic do over years of heat cycling, and it looks considerably cleaner in the engine bay than a corrugated black tube. On a Type S that people tend to care about, that appearance matters alongside the function.
