Why The Pleats Cost You
Worth understanding, because it's the entire reason this part exists.
Honda uses a corrugated hose because it's cheap and flexes to accommodate engine movement. But those pleats create turbulence. Air moving through a ridged tube tumbles and slows against every corrugation, where smooth walls let it flow cleanly.
On a 3.5L V6 in a heavy vehicle, that restriction sits right in the inlet path. Smoothing it out lets the engine draw more freely, which shows up as better throttle response and a small gain in power potential.
It's not a dramatic power part on its own. It's the cheap fix for an obvious restriction, and it's the kind of thing worth doing while you're addressing the intake path anyway.
