PRL Motorsports Intercooler Charge Pipe Kit (ATLX2-30T-CP) - 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type S
Factory charge pipes on the TLX Type S use rubber hose, and rubber expands under boost. That expansion costs you pressure, gets worse as you add boost, and eventually becomes a leak when the rubber gives up. This kit replaces the path with aluminum pipes and 4-ply silicone couplers, running a larger 3" cold side while keeping the hot side at factory diameter.
Bigger Cold Side, Factory Hot Side
This is the design decision worth understanding, because it's counterintuitive and it's deliberate.
The cold side goes up to 3.00" OD from the factory's roughly 2.40" ID. That's the section carrying cooled, dense air from the intercooler to the throttle body, and more diameter there means more airflow with less restriction.
The hot side stays at factory diameter. That section runs from the turbos to the intercooler, and keeping it tighter maintains exhaust gas velocity, which helps the turbos spool rather than hurting them.
Oversizing everything sounds better and drives worse. You'd gain flow capacity you can't use while slowing spool, which on a street car is a poor trade. PRL sized each section for what it's actually doing.
Why Rubber Hoses Fail
Worth knowing, because this is a problem that develops gradually.
The factory hoses expand under pressure. On a stock car that expansion is small enough to ignore, but every bit of it is boost pressure going into stretching a hose instead of reaching your engine.
Add boost and it gets worse. The rubber also weakens over time from heat cycling, which means the expansion increases as the car ages and eventually becomes a boost leak. That's a common failure on turbocharged cars and it's frustrating to diagnose because it's intermittent before it's permanent.
Aluminum pipes don't expand at all, and 4-ply silicone handles the temperature and pressure far better than the rubber it replaces.
Silicone Rather Than All Metal
PRL uses silicone couplers rather than running metal end to end, and there are three reasons that's the better approach.
Heat transfer. Silicone conducts heat far less readily than aluminum or steel. Metal couplers sitting in a hot engine bay pull heat into the charge air you just cooled, which partly undoes what the intercooler did.
Flow through bends. Custom molded silicone allows tighter, smoother radius bends than metal tubing can achieve in the same space. Better bends mean better flow in a tight engine bay.
Movement tolerance. The engine moves and the chassis doesn't. Silicone absorbs that, where a rigid metal path either cracks or transmits stress into the mounting points.
The Service Port Is Useful
Small addition worth mentioning.
The kit includes a 1/8" NPT auxiliary service port, which gives you a ready-made location for a boost gauge, a sensor, or a boost leak tester.
If you ever need to pressure test the system chasing a leak, having a port already there saves drilling and tapping a pipe you just bought.
Works With Either Intercooler
Compatible with the factory intercooler and with PRL's intercooler upgrade using a 3" outlet.
That means you can fit this now on a stock intercooler and upgrade the cooler later without replacing the charge piping. Sensible ordering if you're building the car in stages.
No Tune Required
Charge piping changes how air reaches the engine, not how it's measured or metered. The factory calibration remains correct, so this is a genuine bolt-on.

All variants including right-hand drive and international models. Part number ATLX2-30T-CP. Compatible with factory intercoolers and PRL intercooler upgrades with a 3" outlet.
Who Should Grab This
This is for the TLX Type S owner who's added boost or is planning to, and for anyone who'd rather replace rubber hoses before they fail than after. Aluminum where rigidity matters, silicone where movement and heat matter, and sizing chosen for what each section actually does. Bolt it on and stop losing boost to hose expansion.
