Here's the honest truth about the FL5 Type R and DE5 Integra Type S: they're quick out of the box, but Honda still had to build the intake to stay quiet and pass emissions, so there's airflow just sitting there waiting for you to grab it. When somebody asks us which intake to run, this is the one we point them to, and not because it's got PRL's name on it. They built the version for the last Type R, the FK8, figured out what worked and what didn't, and this one's better everywhere it counts. You bolt it on, you leave your tune alone, and the car finally breathes.

The Number Everybody Asks About

First thing out of everyone's mouth is how much more air it moves. PRL's answer is 133% more than the factory intake, and here's how they pull it off. There's a big 6" cone filter feeding an HDPE rotomolded airbox, and that box uses your factory air duct and seal, so the filter's pulling cool outside air instead of cooking on engine heat. They opened up the inlet as much as the space physically allows. More air in, more power out. That's the whole game.

The Part We Actually Nerd Out Over

This is what makes it worth paying attention to. On these cars, the factory rubber duct seals up to the hood and feeds the airbox from in front of the radiator support. Sounds fine on paper. Problem is, third-party testing caught these cars dropping 10 to 20 horsepower with the hood shut, because that factory duct starves the box for air right when you've got the hood down and you're driving hard. And that's the catch with a lot of intakes out there, they're dyno queens. They look great with the hood popped up in the shop, then choke the second you close it and go drive. PRL added a secondary duct to kill that air starvation, so this thing keeps breathing with the hood down, which, last we checked, is how you actually drive the car. That's the difference between an intake built for a dyno graph and one built for the road.

Smooth The Whole Way Through

An intake's only as good as its worst transition, so PRL runs their stepped silicone couplers front to back, each one matched to the exact connection it lands on. No lips, no ledges, no spots where the air trips over itself on the way to the turbo. It's a small thing you'll never see once it's installed, but it's the reason the whole tract flows clean instead of just the pretty parts.

No Tune, And You Won't Fail A Smog Check

Two things that matter more than people expect. You don't need a tune. PRL builds these to hold factory-like fuel trims, so it drives right the day you bolt it on, no flashing, no weird part-throttle behavior, nothing. And it's 50-state legal with a CARB Executive Order (EO D-878-8) and a patented design (D1098199). Half the intakes you'll look at either need a tune to run clean or can't pass emissions in California. This one asks nothing of you on either front.

What It Fits

It fits every 2023 and up Civic Type R FL5 and every 2024 and up Integra Type S DE5, RHD and international cars included. It hooks to your factory turbocharger inlet pipe, so it works with the car exactly as it sits now. And if you decide to add one of PRL's inlet pipe upgrades down the line, this is the intake those pipes are made to bolt onto.
