PRL Motorsports Chassis Brace Kit - 2016-2021 Honda Civic & Type R

The 10th gen Civic is a unibody, which makes it light, comfortable, and quiet. It also makes it flexible, because Honda builds compliance into the structure on purpose. That compliance is fine on a commute and works against you the moment you load the car up in a corner. These PRL braces tie key structural points together to limit that flex, and they're available for three locations so you can stiffen where your car needs it.

Three Locations, Pick What You Need

The braces are sold by position, and you can run one, two, or all three.

Front (HC10-CB-F) ties the bottom of the front core support together, mounting ahead of the front wheels beneath the bumper. Stiffening the nose sharpens turn-in and how directly the front end responds when you first ask for direction.

Mid-rear (HC10-CB-MR) ties the central rear structure together, working alongside the other locations to reduce overall chassis movement.

Rear (HC10-CB-R) attaches to the frame rails behind the rear wheel line. This is the one people feel most, since a stiffer rear end rotates more willingly and makes the car easier to place in a corner.

Most people start with the rear because it's the most noticeable, then add the others as they chase more precision. Running all three gives you the most complete reduction in chassis flex.

What Chassis Flex Actually Costs You

Worth understanding, because it's a subtle thing that adds up.

When you load a corner, the chassis itself twists slightly before your suspension even does its job. That flex means your carefully set alignment and your dampers are working against a foundation that's moving underneath them.

The car feels vague as a result. Inputs take a moment to translate into response, and the limit feels softer and less defined than it should. It's not dramatic, which is exactly why people live with it without realizing it's there.

Tying the structure together removes that initial flex, so your suspension acts on a rigid platform. What you feel is sharper response, a more defined limit, and a car that goes where you point it without the slight delay flex introduces.

All Stainless, Built To Last

The brace bars are 304 stainless steel, TIG welded, and the fittings and adapters that mount them are 304 stainless as well.

That matters because these live underneath the car, exposed to road salt, water, and everything the wheels throw at them. A brace made from mild steel rusts, and a rusting brace bolted to your chassis is a corrosion problem you've introduced rather than solved.

Stainless throughout means they hold up indefinitely, and the Grade 10.9 mounting hardware handles the clamping loads without loosening or corroding at the fasteners.

Check For A Spare Tire

Important for two of the three braces, so confirm before ordering.

The front and rear braces are not compatible with Civics that came with a factory spare tire. The trunk floor pan differs between trims that have a spare and those that don't, and the brace mounts to structure that isn't the same on a spare-equipped car.

Lift your rear trunk floor cover and look. If there's a spare tire under there, the front and rear braces won't fit your car. The mid-rear brace fits regardless.

Two minutes with the trunk cover up saves an expensive wrong order.

Who Should Run These

This is for the owner who's added suspension and wants the chassis to keep up, or who's noticed the car feeling vague at the limit and traced it to flex rather than the dampers. Start with the rear for the most noticeable change, add the others as you chase precision. Stainless construction that lasts, and a real improvement in how directly the car responds. Check for a spare, pick your locations, and tie the structure together.
