PowerStop Z23 Front Pads for 17-21 Civic Type R
The 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8) uses a larger front brake than the 1.5T Civic or the Civic Si. When those pads are glazed or dusting the wheels after street miles, PowerStop Z23 Evolution Sport front pads, part Z23-1001B, are the carbon-fiber ceramic set cataloged for that Type R caliper. This is a front-axle set with hardware. It is not the Si pad (Z23-1697) and it is not a 10th-gen 1.5T pad.
What It Is and Why It Works
PowerStop builds the Z23 line as a daily-driver upgrade over stock. The pad uses a low-dust ceramic formula infused with carbon fiber, per the manufacturer, so bite goes up without a race-pad noise profile. Positive mold construction is meant to keep wear even. The backing plate is powder coated against rust. Stainless hardware and ceramic lubricant are included so the job is not waiting on clips.
These pads are for street and spirited driving on the FK8 Type R, not a dedicated track compound. PowerStop rates the Z23 as a quiet, low-dust daily pad. A Type R that sees long track sessions may want a higher-temp pad later. This set covers one axle. Rear pads are a different number.

This pad does not fit the 2017-2020 Civic Si. That car uses PowerStop Z23-1697. It does not fit 2016-2021 Civic LX, EX, Sport, or Touring 1.5T / 2.0 cars. Those use a different front pad. Some catalogs title this SKU as 17-21 Civic front, but submodel catalogs show Type R only. 2016 Civic is not a Type R year in the US.
What to Know Before You Buy
Confirm the car is an FK8 Type R before ordering. The Si and the 1.5T Civic look similar in a parts catalog and they do not share this pad. Bed the pads per PowerStop guidance after install. Inspect rotors while the calipers are off. A worn Type R rotor will eat a new pad quickly.
This is a pad set, not a pad-and-rotor kit. One set does the front axle only.
