PRODUCT DETAILS
NGK Ignition Coil Honda Civic Si
When a 2002-2011 Civic Si starts missing on one cylinder, that coil-on-plug pencil in the K20 well is usually done. Weak spark, a rough idle, or a misfire is why you need a new honda civic ignition coil, and this is the one for this car. NGK 48922 (U5099) is the stock-replacement ngk ignition coil that bolts onto the 2002-2005 EP3 Si (K20A3) and the 2006-2011 Si (K20Z3).
You get one pencil coil. The engine uses four. Plugs, boots, clips, and a valve-cover gasket are not in the box.
What It Is and Why It Works
Honda's factory COP pencils live in a hot, oily well. After enough heat cycles the housing cracks, the boot tracks, or that cylinder just quits firing. NGK builds 48922 as a U5 pencil coil, one coil per plug, to OE fit. You give up the Honda box. You get a bolt-on 12V coil-on-plug with a 3-pin connector that sits on the same plug. We like this one for a daily Si because it is the stock pencil, not a story about more spark.
The Si is coil-on-plug. There is no distributor and there are no plug wires on these cars. This SKU is one coil, not a set of four. If one well failed, the other three have the same miles, so decide the count before you order.

One coil. Four wells on the engine. Pull the failed coil and match the pencil: it bolts to the valve cover and sits on the plug with a 3-pin connector. The US Si hatch is 2002-2005. 2006 Si is coupe only. The sedan Si starts in 2007. There is no 2001 US Civic Si. It does not fit a 2001-2005 Civic D17, an 8th-gen non-Si R18, a 2012-2015 Civic Si K24, a B-series with spark plug wires, or an 11th-gen Civic. Official extra applications include 2003-2007 Accord 2.4, 2002-2009 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2004-2008 TSX, and 2004-2005 S2000. Those cars are not what this page is for.
What to Know Before You Buy
Do one coil at a time so the plugs stay in order. Pull the 3-pin connector, remove the single bolt, and twist the pencil out of the well. If the well is wet with oil, fix the valve-cover gasket before you drop a new coil in or you will cook the next boot. A light smear of dielectric grease on the boot helps it slide and keeps water out.
If one coil failed, look at the plug and the other three coils. A fouled plug or a cracked boot will take the new coil with it. Fresh coils on worn plugs just hide the next failure. While the cover is off, worth a look at the ground and the harness clip.
This SKU is one coil. One dead well on a healthy Si can take a single replacement. If two wells already failed and the set has the same miles, buy the rest. And if you are holding a coil pack or a wire set, you have the wrong generation.
