MHI Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade - K20C 2.0T (Type R / Integra Type S / Accord / RDX / TLX)

Here's the catch with most turbo upgrades on these K20C cars. You go bigger for power, and now you're fighting laggy spool, a pile of supporting mods, and a garage full of parts before the thing even runs right. This one's different, and the reason is who makes it. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries builds the factory turbo on your car, so when MHI makes a Stage 2 upgrade, you're getting an OEM-quality turbo that bolts on exactly like the stock one because the housings, mounting points, and footprint are identical. You get a serious jump in power, you keep your reliability, and you don't sacrifice spool to get there. The Stage 2 runs all-new turbine and compressor wheels, a bigger 65mm billet compressor and a 52mm inconel turbine, and it'll support 500+ horsepower. Expect around a 33% bump to roughly 400 hp on pump gas, with up to 500+ hp on race fuel or ethanol. This is the rare turbo upgrade that actually delivers big power and still installs like a stock part.

Why The MHI Name Actually Matters Here

Anybody can sell you a bigger turbo. The hard part is big power that holds up, and that's where this one separates itself. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is the OEM turbocharger supplier to Honda, they build the stock turbo that came on your Type R, Accord, RDX, or TLX from the factory. So this isn't some no-name unit hoping to survive your boost. It's built by the same company Honda trusts to spool reliably for the life of the car, just with the wheels stepped up for serious power. When you're chasing 400 to 500+ horsepower, the last thing you want is a turbo that grenades on you. With MHI behind it, you get the power and the peace of mind that it'll keep making it.

What The Bigger Wheels Get You

The Stage 2 designation comes from all-new turbine and compressor wheels, and the numbers tell the story. It runs a +7mm larger 65mm 5+5 billet TD05-21HR3 compressor wheel and a +5mm larger 52mm TD04-HLL1 inconel turbine. In plain terms, the bigger compressor moves a lot more air so you make more boost and more power up top, and the larger inconel turbine handles the heat and drives that compressor without falling on its face. The payoff is real. Around +33% over stock on pump gas, which lands you near 400 hp, and up to +60% if you step up to race fuel or ethanol, which is where the 500+ hp lives. And because MHI designed these wheels to work together, you get that power without trading away your spool, the turbo still comes alive when you want it to.

A True Bolt-On, Not A Weekend Project

This is what sets the MHI Stage 2 apart from a typical turbo swap. Full-Race worked with Mitsubishi and Hondata to make this a genuine plug-and-play upgrade, so you're not buying a turbo and then chasing down a stack of supporting parts to make it usable. The housings are completely identical to your stock turbo, same mounting points, same footprint, so it bolts right in using all your stock components. No fabrication, no adapting, no spending your whole weekend under the car. If you can do a stock turbo R&R, you can do this. It's the kind of upgrade that gets you 400-500+ hp without turning into a months-long build.

Check Your Downpipe On The Non-Type R Cars

One thing to know depending on your car. This turbo was designed around the FK8 Civic Type R, and it's compatible with the other K20C 2.0T platforms, the Accord 2.0T, RDX, TLX, Integra Type S, and the FL5 Type R, but the Accord, RDX, and TLX need the FK8 downpipe to run it. So if you're on one of those three, plan on the FK8 downpipe as part of your setup. The Type R cars are already sorted on that front. Either way, confirm your downpipe situation before you order so everything lines up.
