PRODUCT DETAILS

Mishimoto Performance Short Ram Intake - 2006-2011 Honda Civic Si (K20Z3)

The 8th-gen Si is a car people buy to drive, and the factory airbox is one of the first things worth changing, it's restrictive, and it muffles the K20Z3's induction right when you want to hear it. This Mishimoto short ram intake opens that up: up to 8 whp and 6 wtq, a genuinely aggressive tone (especially when VTEC hits), and a quick bolt-on install. The wrinkle black pipe is offered with or without a heat shield, so you can set it up the way you want.

With Or Without The Heat Shield

This is the choice to make, and it matters on a short ram specifically.

A short ram intake puts the filter in the engine bay, which is great for flow and sound but means the filter can pull in warm underhood air, the short ram's one real weakness. The heat shield addresses exactly that: a black powder-coated shield sits between the filter and the hot exhaust manifold, blocking that heat so the filter draws cooler air and the intake doesn't heat-soak as much.

With the heat shield is the better-performing setup, it keeps intake temps down, which matters most on a hot day or when you're driving hard, so it's the one to get if you want the intake working at its best.

Without the heat shield is the simpler, lower-cost option, or the pick if you've already got heat management handled another way. It still flows and sounds great; you're just giving up some of the heat protection.

For most people, the shield is worth it, it's how you get the most out of a short ram. Pick based on whether you want maximum performance or the simpler setup.

The Gains, And A Note On Tuning

Being straight about the power, since there's nuance here.

This is dyno-proven for up to 8 whp and 6 wtq, real gains for an intake on the K20Z3, and it runs safely on the stock tune to deliver them. No tune is required to install it and get those numbers.

That said, Mishimoto recommends a retune to get the most out of it, a tune calibrated to the freer-flowing intake can extract more than the stock calibration allows, so your actual gains scale with the tune you run. Bottom line: it's safe and makes power on the stock tune, and it makes more with a tune. If you're building the car, this is a natural part to have in place before or alongside a tune.

Accurate MAF, Smooth Power

The MAF housing is what keeps it running right.

The intake uses a CNC-machined MAF housing that gives accurate, consistent mass-airflow readings, which is what lets the ECU meter fuel correctly and deliver a smooth power band rather than the surging or inconsistent response a poorly-designed intake can cause. It's the detail that separates a quality intake from a cheap one that reads wrong.

More Filter, Better Flow

The filter is a real upgrade over stock.

The Mishimoto oiled filter has 85% greater surface area than stock, which means more airflow and more filter to trap dirt before it reaches the engine. It's washable and reusable, so it serves for the life of the car with periodic cleaning rather than being a replace-it item. Standard oiled-filter upkeep: clean and re-oil every 10,000 to 15,000 miles, more often in dusty conditions.

CARB-Legal, Quick Install

It's CARB compliant (EO# D-759-1), so it's 50-state legal and passes a visual emissions inspection, which matters in California and other checked states. And it installs in under an hour with no need to remove the front bumper or splash guard, a straightforward bolt-on with the included silicone coupler, clamps, and hardware. Designed in Delaware, with a USA-made filter.

Fitment

2006-2011 Honda Civic Si (FG2 coupe, FA5 sedan, K20Z3)

Wrinkle black pipe, available with or without heat shield. Direct fit, CARB EO# D-759-1.

Who Should Grab This

This is for the 8th-gen Si owner who wants more airflow, a much better induction sound, and an easy bolt-on that stays emissions-legal. Up to 8 whp and 6 wtq on the stock tune (more with a retune), a huge improvement in tone especially on VTEC, and your choice of running the heat shield or not. Get the shield if you want it working at its best, and give the K20Z3 the intake it deserves.

Fits: 2006-2011 Honda Civic Si (FG2/FA5, K20Z3). Gains: up to 8 whp / 6 wtq on stock tune (more with a retune). Options: with or without heat shield. Pipe: mandrel-bent aluminum, wrinkle black. MAF housing: CNC-machined for accurate readings. Filter: Mishimoto oiled, 85% more surface area, washable. Emissions: CARB legal, EO# D-759-1. Install: under an hour, no bumper removal. Warranty: Mishimoto lifetime.
