PRODUCT DETAILS
Mishimoto Performance Aluminum Radiator (MMRAD-FIT-07) - 2007-2008 Honda Fit
The factory radiator on the Fit has plastic end tanks, and like most plastic-tank radiators, they crack and leak as the car ages, usually right where the tank meets the core. This Mishimoto all-aluminum radiator replaces it with TIG-welded aluminum tanks that won't crack, more coolant capacity, and better heat dissipation. It's a direct fit for both automatic and manual Fits, and it's the sensible upgrade whether you're fixing a leaking stock radiator or keeping a weekend autocross car cool.
Why The Factory Radiator Fails
Worth understanding, because it's the main reason people replace it.
The Fit's original radiator uses plastic end tanks crimped onto the core, which is how most OEM radiators are built, cheap and light, but a known weak point. Over years of heat cycling, that plastic gets brittle and cracks, and the crimped seam between the tank and core starts to weep. Once it goes, you're losing coolant and risking an overheat.
An aluminum radiator with welded tanks eliminates that failure mode entirely, there's no plastic to crack and no crimped seam to leak. For a Fit that's developed a radiator leak, or one you want to get ahead of, this is the permanent fix rather than another plastic-tank unit that'll fail the same way down the road.
Aluminum, More Capacity
The construction is a genuine upgrade over stock.
It's full aluminum with TIG-welded end tanks and a 100% brazed core, stronger and more durable than the factory plastic-and-aluminum unit, and aluminum sheds heat more efficiently. It holds 1.61 gallons, more coolant capacity than stock, which gives the system more thermal mass and better, more stable temperatures.
For a daily-driven Fit that's a durability and reliability upgrade; for one that sees autocross or track weekends, the extra capacity and better dissipation help keep temps in check when you're working the little engine hard on a hot day.
Fits Automatic And Manual
Useful flexibility, since the Fit came both ways.
This radiator is compatible with both automatic and manual transmission Fits, so you don't need to match it to your transmission, it's a direct fit either way. It drops into the factory location with no modification, using the stock connections.
Magnetic Drain Plug Included
A magnetic drain plug comes with it, capturing metallic debris circulating in the cooling system so wear particles collect at the plug instead of cycling through your pump and engine. A small detail that helps protect the system over time.
Fitment
