Mishimoto Ignition Coil - 1992-2000 Honda Civic & 1994-2001 Acura Integra (B & D Series)

Spark is one of the four things an engine needs to run right, and on a 25-to-30-year-old Honda or Acura, the ignition coil is often the weak link. A tired or failing coil puts out a weak spark, and that shows up as misfires, a rough idle, hard starts, and worse gas mileage, the kind of running problems people chase all over the engine. This Mishimoto coil restores a strong, consistent spark, built to meet or exceed OEM Honda spec. It fits the distributor-era B and D-series engines across a wide range of Hondas and Acuras, including the Civic and Integra.

What A Weak Coil Does

The coil's job is to take your 12 volts and step it up to the tens of thousands of volts needed to fire the spark plugs. As it ages and the windings degrade, it can't produce that voltage consistently, and the spark gets weak or intermittent.

A weak spark can't light the mixture cleanly, so you get misfires, a rough or stumbling idle, hard starting, and poor fuel economy. Left alone, repeated misfires can also dump unburned fuel into the exhaust and damage your catalytic converter, turning a cheap coil problem into an expensive one. If you've got those symptoms on an aging B or D-series and you've ruled out plugs and wires, the coil is a prime suspect.

Get The Basics Right First

There's a smart order to modifying a car, and this is part of it.

An engine needs fuel, air, compression, and spark to run properly, and before you chase horsepower, it's worth making sure all of those are healthy, call it Stage 0. A fresh coil is part of getting the ignition system back to 100% before you build on top of it. There's no point adding power mods to an engine that's misfiring on a weak coil; you fix the foundation first, then build. A refreshed ignition is also just good maintenance on a car this age, whether or not you're modifying it.

Do It With Fresh Plugs

The coil and plugs work together, so they're best done together.

Installed alongside a fresh set of spark plugs, this coil gives you a fully refreshed ignition, stronger, more consistent spark, which you feel as easier starts, a smoother idle, and restored performance the weak old coil was costing you. If you're doing the coil, doing the plugs at the same time is the sensible move, they're both part of the same system and both wear.

Built For The Heat

The coil lives in a hot environment, and the construction accounts for it.

It's built with a high-quality phenolic resin outer shell that holds up in the high-temperature environment of the engine bay, so it lasts rather than failing early from heat the way a cheap coil can. It's designed and tested to meet or exceed OEM Honda and Acura performance specs, so it performs like the factory part it replaces, and it's a direct replacement for the factory coil (replaces part number 30510-PT2-006).

B and D-series engines. Replaces 30510-PT2-006. Direct fit.

If your B or D-series Honda or Acura is misfiring, idling rough, or hard to start, a worn ignition coil is one of the cheap, common causes, and this is the fix. OEM-spec performance, a heat-resistant build that lasts, and a direct replacement for the factory coil. Do it with fresh plugs for a fully refreshed ignition, get the basics solid before you chase power, and get the car running the way it should.
