Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit - FL5 Civic Type R & DE5 Integra Type S
The FL5 Type R and DE5 Integra Type S make 315 hp and real heat, and on a hard track session the stock intercooler saturates, intake temps climb, and the ECU pulls power to protect the engine. This Mishimoto kit is the fix, and it's a serious one: a bar-and-plate core 140% larger than stock that drops peak intake temps by up to 57°F and holds its cooling through back-to-back sessions. It's a complete kit with the intercooler and upgraded piping, supports builds to 600 hp, and comes in your choice of finishes.
57°F Cooler, And It Holds
The cooling is the headline, and it's the biggest drop of any intercooler in the Type R lineup.
The bar-and-plate core is 140% larger in volume than stock, with a 4.72" thick core that gives it the capacity to pull heat out of the charge air instead of saturating the way the factory unit does. In testing, it dropped peak intake temps by up to 57°F compared to stock.
That's what matters on a car you track: not just a lower number on the first pull, but holding that cooling through repeated heat-soak sessions. The stock intercooler fades as it saturates, and the ECU pulls timing to compensate, which is the power loss you feel on the third or fourth hard lap. This core keeps the charge air cool, so the car holds its power run after run instead of falling off.
Gains, And What They Really Mean
Straight on the power.
The kit is worth up to 10 hp and 9 lb-ft, but on an intercooler the peak number isn't the point, the consistency is. The real value is that the car holds its power when the stock unit would be fading, and that it gives you the cooling headroom to build further. This core supports builds up to 600 hp, so it's not going to be the limit no matter how far you take the K20C1. For a stock car it recovers what heat soak costs you; for a built one it's cooling capacity that stays ahead of the power.
Complete Kit, Bigger Piping
This is the whole charge path, not just the core.
The kit includes the intercooler plus 2.5" ID aluminum piping, couplers, and all the hardware, a full upgrade over the restrictive factory setup. The cast pipes are shaped to flow well in the FL5's tight engine bay, and the cast aluminum end tanks on the intercooler are built for durability and direct airflow cleanly in and out of the core.
It's a plug-and-play install that works with the stock ducting and requires no cutting, using OEM-style mounting for a secure, factory-location fit. Everything you need is in the box.
Pick Your Colors
The intercooler comes in black or silver, and the piping in black or red. All combinations perform identically, so mix and match to your build, all-black for subtle, red piping for a pop behind the bumper. Pick the pair that suits your car.
Install Note
The T-bolt clamps are torqued to spec, 27 in-lbs recommended, 35 in-lbs maximum, so don't over-tighten them.
