Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator - 1992-2000 Honda Civic & 1993-1997 Del Sol

Whether you're running a stock EG, a built EK, or a B-swapped Del Sol, coolant temperature is what stands between you and a reliable engine, and the factory radiator wasn't built for the heat a modified or hard-driven car produces. This Mishimoto all-aluminum radiator replaces it with a high-capacity core that drops into the factory location. It comes in two versions, a dual-core for most builds and a triple-core X-Line for the most demanding applications, so you can match the cooling to how hard you run the car.

Which Version: Dual-Core Or X-Line?

Two versions, and the choice comes down to how much heat you're fighting.

Dual-Core (MMRAD-CIV-92, 2-row) is the standard performance radiator, a significant capacity and efficiency upgrade over stock, in a compact 1.65" core. It's the right choice for most builds: a leaking stock car being refreshed, a street car, a moderate track car, or a typical D-series or B16 swap. For the large majority of these cars, it's plenty of radiator.

X-Line (MMRAD-CIV-92X, 3-row) is the step up, three cooling rows in a thicker 2" core, built for the most demanding applications where you want the maximum heat exchanger you can fit. It's for the serious track or time-attack car, a high-power boosted build, or an all-motor engine run hard, anywhere the dual-core might be working at its limit.

Simple guidance: if you're building a street or moderate track car, the dual-core is the sensible, proven choice. If you're running a high-power or dedicated-track EG or EK where cooling is a genuine priority, the X-Line gives you the extra margin. Both are direct fits.

How The X-Line's Three Rows Work

Worth understanding, since more rows isn't just "bigger."

The X-Line packs three cooling rows into a 2" thick core, and several things about that design increase cooling beyond just adding volume. The tubes are 16% thinner than stock, which sounds counterintuitive but increases surface contact, more of the coolant is close to a cooling surface. The greater density of rows means more contact points for heat transfer, and the three-row depth creates more air turbulence as air passes through, which improves how efficiently that air pulls heat from the fins.

The result is a radiator that sheds more heat than row count alone would suggest, packaged in a core that's still compact enough to fit the factory location. For a car generating serious heat, that efficiency is the point.

Both Are Brazed Aluminum, Built To Last

The construction is shared across both versions.

Both use a 100% brazed aluminum core with TIG-welded aluminum end tanks, which is stronger, more durable, and sheds heat better than the factory plastic-and-aluminum unit, and it won't crack the way the plastic factory end tanks do as they age. Aluminum tolerates more heat and pressure and dissipates heat more efficiently, so the material itself contributes to the cooling on both versions.

Why Upgrade At All

Two reasons, both valid on a car this age.

On a stock or aging car, the factory radiator is often failing, cracked plastic tanks, a corroded core, leaks, and overheating. Either version fixes that permanently with an aluminum unit that lasts.

On a modified car, it's about capacity. A boosted, high-compression, or hard-run B or D-series makes substantial heat, and sustained high coolant temps accelerate wear and can damage the engine. A larger aluminum radiator keeps your temps in check when you're pushing, protecting the engine, with the X-Line giving the most headroom for the hardest-working builds.

Fits Your Swap Or Your Stock Car

Broad engine coverage across the B and D-series, on both versions.

Both fit the common D-series engines (D15 and D16 variants) and the B16A2 and B16A3 VTEC engines, so whether your Civic or Del Sol runs its original D-series or a swapped B16, these fit. That makes them the standard cooling upgrade for the EG, EH, EJ, and EM chassis, stock or swapped.

Manual Transmission Only

Important fitment note for both versions, so check before ordering.

These radiators are for manual transmission vehicles. They don't have the integrated transmission cooler that automatic cars need. If your car is an automatic, you'll need Mishimoto's universal transmission cooler kit alongside the radiator to cool the trans fluid.

For a manual car or a manual swap, either version is a direct fit as-is. For an auto, plan for the separate trans cooler.

The Included Details

Both versions come with two useful extras.

A 1.3 bar high-pressure radiator cap raises the coolant's boiling point, higher pressure means coolant can run hotter before it boils, giving more margin before the system vents. And a magnetic drain plug captures metallic debris in the cooling system, so wear particles collect at the plug instead of cycling through your pump and engine.

Direct Fit, Factory Location

Both versions are engineered to original-equipment specifications and drop into the factory radiator location with no modification, despite the significant increase in core size over stock (and the X-Line's extra thickness). No fabrication, no cutting, factory hose connections. The X-Line's thicker core still fits the factory location, which is part of what makes it impressive.

Fitment

1992-2000 Honda Civic (EG, EJ, EM)
1993-1997 Honda Del Sol (EH, EG2)

D15/D16 and B16A2/B16A3 engines. Manual transmission only (automatics require a separate transmission cooler). Direct fit, factory location. Available in dual-core (MMRAD-CIV-92) or X-Line triple-core (MMRAD-CIV-92X).

Who Should Grab This

This is for the EG, EK, or Del Sol owner whose factory radiator is leaking, and for anyone building or swapping these cars who needs real cooling capacity. Dual-core aluminum for most builds, or the triple-core X-Line for the hardest-working track and high-power cars, both won't crack like the plastic factory unit, both direct fit, both with a magnetic drain plug and high-pressure cap included. Pick your version for how hard you run the car, confirm you're manual, and keep your temps where they belong.

Fits: 1992-2000 Civic and 1993-1997 Del Sol (EG/EH/EJ/EM), D15/D16 and B16A2/A3 engines. Transmission: manual only (auto needs separate trans cooler). Versions: dual-core (MMRAD-CIV-92, 2-row, 1.65" core) or X-Line triple-core (MMRAD-CIV-92X, 3-row, 2" core, thinner tubes for more surface contact).
