Mishimoto Performance Air Intake - 2022-2026 Civic Si & Integra 1.5T

The factory intake on the 1.5T Si and Integra is a sealed airbox with a resonator, built to keep the car quiet and meet Honda's mass-production targets, not to let the turbo breathe. The piping has sharp bends and narrow sections that trip up airflow before it reaches the turbo. This Mishimoto intake opens that up: it flows 50.7% better than stock, wakes up the intake and turbo sounds the sealed box hides, and picks up a few honest horsepower and torque in the process. It's the kind of first mod that makes the car feel more alive without changing how it drives day to day.

What The Stock Intake Holds Back

The factory system isn't bad, it filters well and runs quietly, which is exactly what Honda wanted. But that sealed airbox and resonator exist to muffle sound and smooth airflow for a daily driver, and the intake piping's tight bends and narrow passages create turbulence that slightly slows how quickly air gets to the turbo.

On a turbo engine, airflow is everything. Anything that restricts the air feeding the turbo blunts throttle response and spool. Clearing that restriction is the whole point here, letting the 1.5L turbo pull air more freely so it responds quicker and sounds like the sporty engine it is.

50.7% More Airflow, And Honest Numbers

Mishimoto measured this intake at 50.7% less restrictive than the factory setup, which is a large jump in how freely the turbo can draw air. On the dyno, that translated to up to 4.9 horsepower and 4.7 lb-ft of torque.

Straight talk on those gains: an intake alone on a stock turbo car isn't a huge power adder, and these numbers are modest, as they should be for a bolt-on intake. What you actually feel day to day is the improved throttle response and the more linear power delivery from the freer-flowing air, plus the sound. If you're after big power, an intake is one piece of a bigger plan (and it sets up those later mods); if you want the car to feel sharper and sound better for not much money, this is exactly that mod.

The Sound Is A Big Part Of It

The sealed factory airbox deliberately hides the intake and turbo noise. Open it up and you get it back, a real growl under acceleration and more audible turbo character, without droning or turning the cabin into a chore on the highway. Honda tuned the Si for sound as much as speed, and this intake lets more of that engine's voice through. For a lot of Si and Integra owners, that alone is worth the upgrade.

The MAF Housing Is Where The Engineering Matters

This is the part that separates a good intake from one that gives you headaches. The MAF sensor measures incoming air so the ECU can set the fuel mixture, and if the housing around it flows air differently than the sensor expects, you get bad readings, which means drivability problems and check engine lights, the classic sign of a cheap intake done wrong.

Mishimoto's housing is injection-molded from glass fiber-reinforced nylon and designed to keep the airflow characteristics the MAF sensor needs, so the ECU reads correctly and the car runs right. It's also the reason this is a straightforward install with no tune required and no fighting with codes afterward. The design is patented (US 11,506,157 B2 and 11,773,813 B2), which speaks to the engineering behind getting that housing right.

A High-Flow Oiled Filter

The kit comes with a Mishimoto oversized oiled filter, sized with plenty of surface area so it flows well while still filtering properly. Oiled filters give excellent airflow and clean nicely, with one thing to know: you'll want to clean and re-oil it every 10,000 to 15,000 miles under normal driving (more often if you're in dusty conditions). That's standard oiled-filter maintenance, and it's worth noting the re-oil service isn't covered under the warranty, though the intake itself is, for life.

Who Should Grab This

This is for the Si or Integra owner who wants their car to breathe, respond, and sound better, and who appreciates that it's done right, with a MAF housing engineered so you're not chasing check engine lights afterward. 50.7% less restriction, a few honest horsepower, a much better engine note, and an easy install with no tune. It's the classic first mod on a turbo Honda, and this is the version built so it just works.
