PRODUCT DETAILS

Lifeline Zero 2020 Fire Marshal 3.0L Mechanical Fire Suppression System (FIA)

If you're running in an FIA-sanctioned series, a homologated fire suppression system isn't optional, it's required to pass tech and go racing, and it's the system that protects you if the worst happens. The Lifeline Zero 2020 Fire Marshal is a FIA-approved mechanical foam system built around a revised, lighter 3.0L bottle, with 5 misting nozzles covering the engine bay and cockpit. It's mechanically activated (a pull cable, no electronics to fail), FIA Technical List 16 approved, and it sheds weight over older foam systems while increasing protection. For a serious competition car that needs FIA-grade suppression, this is it.

FIA-Approved, Lighter 3.0L System

The Zero 2020 is FIA Technical List 16 approved, which is what makes it legal for FIA-sanctioned competition, many series require a system on the current FIA list, and this is one. Lifeline built it around a revised, smaller and lighter 3.0L bottle than previous foam systems, so you get FIA-grade protection while saving weight, which matters on any competition car. The whole system is 11.5 lbs (5.2kg) with the steel cylinder.

The 3L system is the typically accepted equivalent of a 5lb system, but this is worth confirming, check with your specific series to make sure a 3L system meets their requirement before you commit, since series rules vary.

Mechanical Activation, 5-Nozzle Coverage

This is a mechanically activated system, triggered by a pull cable (the kit includes both a 2m and a 4m red T-handle pull cable so you can run a driver pull and a marshal/external pull). Mechanical activation means no electronics, no battery dependency, and nothing electrical to fail, the system works by a direct mechanical pull, which is the simple, reliable approach a lot of competitors prefer.

It uses 5 of Lifeline's misting nozzles, strategically placed: 3 in the engine bay and 2 in the cockpit. That layout covers both the most likely fire source (the engine bay) and the driver's space, while the 5-nozzle design keeps the system lighter and the installation simpler than systems using more plumbing. The misting nozzles are key to the performance, they atomize the foam for the fastest heat absorption and fire knockdown available from a water-based foam system.

Foam Performance

The system's foam is designed for fast heat absorption and fire knockdown, misted through the nozzles, it pulls heat out of a fire quickly and smothers it. Lifeline rates it as the fastest heat-absorption and knockdown capability available from a water-based foam system, with increased safety levels compared to competitors. For a racing fire, where seconds matter and the goal is knocking the fire down fast enough to get the driver out safely, that rapid knockdown is exactly what you want.

Fits A Wide Range Of Race Cars

The system suits sports and GT cars, formula and prototype cars, and rally cars, the breadth of FIA competition. The steel cylinder measures 6.1" OD (155mm) x 13.5" length (342mm), compact enough to mount in a range of chassis.

This is for the competitor running an FIA-sanctioned series who needs a homologated fire suppression system, and wants a lighter, simpler mechanical foam setup that doesn't compromise on protection. FIA Technical List 16 approved, a revised lighter 3.0L bottle, 5-nozzle coverage of the engine bay and cockpit, mechanical pull-cable activation with both driver and external pulls included, and water-based foam with fast heat knockdown. Confirm the 3L capacity meets your series' requirement, check the homologation is valid for your racing period, and install it properly, it's the system that's there when you need it most.
