K&N VF2033 Cabin Air Filter (2016-2021 Honda Civic)

This is the CABIN filter behind the glove box in a 10th-gen Civic. A Honda Civic cabin air filter is easy to mix up with an engine filter or an 11th-gen cabin filter, so check the size before ordering: VF2033 is 8.25 in long, 8.063 in wide, and 1.125 in tall. It fits the 2016-2021 Civic HVAC tray, including the US Si and Type R years listed below.

K&N VF2033 is one washable filter in a polyurethane frame. It replaces the disposable paper pad in the factory glove-box tray and arrives ready to install.

What It Is

The trade-off is simple. Honda's paper cabin filter is replaced when it gets dirty. VF2033 uses washable non-woven synthetic media that can be cleaned and refreshed. Do not oil it.

K&N builds the media into a flexible polyurethane frame and treats it to help capture odor-causing contaminants. It is a cabin filter for incoming HVAC air. It is not the K&N 33-5044 engine air filter used in many 1.5T Civics.

Not for a 2016 US Civic Type R because Honda did not sell the FK8 here until 2017. It is not for 2022-2026 Civic, 2022-2026 Si, FL5 Type R, or Integra. K&N lists VF2086 for 2025-2026 Civic and Type R; K&N's Civic catalog does not show a washable cabin filter for 2022-2024. If the old pad or tray is not about 8.25 x 8.063 x 1.125 in, stop and confirm the part before ordering.

What to Know

Installation is a glove-box job. Lower the box, open the HVAC tray, match the airflow direction, and seat the frame without folding it. Inspect the tray for leaves and wipe it clean before the new filter goes in. K&N's VF2033 instructions call for refreshing the filter every 12 months or 12,000 miles.

Use K&N 99-6000 when it is time to service the filter. That kit contains cabin-filter cleaner and electrostatic refresher. It is not red engine-filter oil, and engine-filter Recharger products do not belong on VF2033.

Choose VF2033 if you want to clean and reuse the cabin filter instead of throwing away another paper pad. It will not add engine power. Its job is to filter air entering your Civic's cabin while fitting the stock HVAC tray correctly.
