Insane Shafts B-Series 36mm Axles - Integra Type R, Integra, Civic & Del Sol (5-Lug Conversion)
When you're making real B-series power, the factory axles become the weak link, and a snapped axle at the track ends your day and can damage other parts on the way out. These Insane Shafts axles are built for the 36mm 5-lug conversion setup, in two power ratings: a chromoly 500HP version and a cryo-treated 1000HP version. Pick the strength your build needs, and stop worrying about what's turning your wheels.
Two Ratings: 500HP Or 1000HP
Choose based on the power you're making or planning for.
500HP (IS-011-012) is chromoly steel through Insane Shafts' proprietary annealing and heat treatment process, rated to handle up to 500 wheel horsepower. It's a large step up from typical swap axles and the right choice for a strong street or moderate track build.
1000HP (IS-011-012M) is the top of the range: the same chromoly and heat treatment, then cryogenically treated for maximum strength, rated to 1000 wheel horsepower and real-world tested in extreme conditions on and off the track. This is for serious big-power builds where the axle can't be the failure point.
Simple guidance: if you're under 500whp and staying there, the 500HP saves money. If you're making big power or building toward it, the 1000HP is the one that won't hold you back.
How They're Made Strong
The construction is where the strength comes from.
Both start as chromoly steel, considerably stronger than the standard steel in factory axles, and both go through Insane Shafts' proprietary annealing and heat treatment process. The 1000HP version adds cryogenic treatment on top, which takes the metal to extreme low temperatures to refine its grain structure, relieving internal stresses and increasing fatigue resistance.
That fatigue resistance matters on an axle that sees violent, repeated shock loading every launch. It's the difference between an axle that's strong once and one that stays strong over a season of abuse.
Confirm Your Setup: 36mm 5-Lug & Hydraulic Intermediate
The two fitment details that matter most, so check both before ordering.
These are specifically for the 36mm 5-lug conversion. That's a hub conversion setup, not the factory 4-lug arrangement, so this is the correct axle if you've done or are doing the 36mm 5-lug swap, and not the one for a stock-hub car.
They also require a B-series hydraulic intermediate shaft. If your setup uses a hydraulic transmission, this is right; if it's a cable setup or a different intermediate shaft, this isn't the correct axle. If you need the intermediate shaft, we stock the Insane Shafts B-series intermediate shaft to complete the setup.

All Insane Shafts axles include removable ABS rings where applicable, so if your car uses ABS you're covered, and if it doesn't, they come off. New spindle nuts are included too, which is the right way to do it, since spindle nuts are a one-time-use item that shouldn't be reused.
