Once a B16A or B18C is sitting in your EF, the factory full-height radiator becomes the biggest thing in the engine bay that is not the engine. Plenty of builders solve that by moving to the 92-00 Civic half size radiator, which is smaller, cheap, and available at every parts counter in the country. The Innovative Mounts Radiator Bracket is the adapter that makes that radiator bolt into a 1988-1991 Civic or CRX chassis without cutting or fabricating anything.

What It Is and Why It Works

This is a mounting bracket, nothing more and nothing less. An EG or EK radiator does not share the 88-91 chassis mounting points, so without an adapter you are drilling the core support or welding tabs. Innovative machines a bracket that picks up the ED, EE, and EF mounting locations on one side and the 92-00 Civic radiator on the other, so the swap becomes a bolt-in job. A half size radiator is not a cooling upgrade over a healthy full size EF radiator. You are trading cooling capacity for space, weight, and access, which is a smart trade if you are routing turbo piping around a B20B, running an oil cooler, or building a car that lives on a track with a proper fan setup, and a bad trade if you are daily driving a swapped hatch in Phoenix on the stock fan. Fitment

Fitment is decided by your chassis, not your engine. A stock D15 or D16 car and a B-series swapped car use the same bracket, because all the bracket cares about is where the core support holes are and where the radiator tabs sit. It does not fit an EG or EK; those chassis already came with this radiator.

What to Know Before You Buy

The single most common wrong assumption on this part is that a B-series swap requires it. It does not. The stock 88-91 radiator handles a B16A or a B18C perfectly well, and long-running EF swap threads say exactly that. You buy this bracket because you want the space back, because you already have an EG or EK radiator on the shelf, or because you are building the front of the car around Innovative's replacement crossmember and want the smaller core to go with it. If your only goal is to keep a swapped EF cool, keep the radiator you have and spend the money on hoses and a decent fan.

If you are going ahead, order the bracket in the same box as the radiator and the hoses. You will need aftermarket or trimmed hoses either way, since a 92-00 core does not line up with 88-91 hose routing, and finding that out with the car apart is how a weekend job turns into a three-week job. Buyers pairing this with the Innovative front crossmember should order both together; the crossmember page specifically calls out the half size radiator as the alternative to the factory unit, and the two parts were designed to coexist.

Last thing: Innovative will not take mounting hardware back once it has been bolted down and shows bolt impressions, and this is a cheap part that is easy to order twice by mistake. Check whether you have a Civic or a CRX, pick the matching part number, and only order once.
