PRODUCT DETAILS

Innovative Mounts 96-00 Civic Hydro to Cable Bracket and Actuator - Part #40020

Going from a hydraulic transmission to a cable box in a 96-00 Civic is a common move on a B-series build, usually because a good cable transmission turned up cheap or because the car is headed toward a specific gear set. The passenger side mounting bracket is the piece that makes that swap physically work, and this is it, with the actuator included.

What It Is and Why It Works

Hydraulic and cable transmissions do not share the same mounting point on the passenger side, so a cable box dropped into an EK or EJ that came with a hydraulic one has nothing to bolt to. This bracket bridges that gap and comes with the actuator, so the clutch side of the conversion is handled at the same time. Hardware is included.

Single part, no bushing choice to make here. What matters is that you know which transmission is going in and which one came out, because that determines whether you need this bracket at all.

This is for hydraulic to cable. If you are going the other direction, cable to hydraulic, that is the 41000 or 41001 actuator setup instead.

What to Know Before You Buy

Be sure which way your conversion runs. Hydraulic to cable and cable to hydraulic need different parts, and the two get confused constantly because both are described as clutch conversions. Look at the transmission going in: if it uses a cable to actuate the clutch, this is your bracket.

Think about whether the swap is worth it first. Cable transmissions are the older design and the main reasons to go that way are a specific gear set or a deal on a good box. If you are just chasing a clutch feel, a fresh hydraulic setup is usually the cheaper path.

While the transmission is out, do the mounts. You will never have better access to them, and on a car this age the rest of the mounts are almost certainly tired too. Parts cannot be returned once they have been bolted in.
