PRODUCT DETAILS
The Innovative Mounts B90050 is a billet conversion engine mount kit built specifically for 1996-2000 Honda Civic chassis using the EK subframe. It lets you swap in a K-series engine - K20 or K24 - while keeping the factory subframe in place. No cutting, no welding, no subframe swaps. If you are on an EG chassis (92-95 Civic), this is not the kit for you - this is an EK-specific design and the two are not interchangeable.
Important compatibility note: These mounts are not compatible with K24 transmissions. They are designed for K20-series transmissions. If you are running a K24 block with a K20 transmission, you are fine. If you are running a K24 transmission, look at a different kit.
K-Series Engine Compatibility: K20A, K20A2, K20A3, K20Z1, K20Z3, K24A2. If you are unsure whether your specific engine revision is supported, reach out to us before ordering - we have installed these ourselves and can give you a straight answer.
Why Billet Aluminum Over Stamped Steel
Factory Honda mounts are stamped from thin-gauge steel and filled with rubber. That rubber is split into sections that meet at the center pin, which means the motor is never truly locked in. Under hard driving, aggressive launches, or any significant power increase, that rubber fails. It shears, it tears, and the result is sloppy motor movement that kills shift feel and chassis feedback.
The B90050 housings are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum. The construction is one-piece and rigid. The polyurethane bushings are tapered specifically to reduce contact between the mount and chassis, which is what keeps NVH manageable at street durometers. The difference in precision between a cast or stamped mount and a machined billet mount is visible with the naked eye - and you feel it the first time you drive.
Choosing the Right Durometer
This is the most common question we get, and the answer depends on how the car is used. Here is a plain-language breakdown of each option:
75A Street (Black) - Recommended for most builds. This is the right choice for a street-driven K-swap. It holds the motor firmly enough to improve shift feel and eliminate the slop you get from worn OEM mounts, while keeping vibration at a level that is comfortable for daily driving or spirited street use. Roughly 80% of customers end up here. If you are unsure, start with 75A.
85A Track (Grey) - For cars that see more track time than street time. Step up to 85A if your build has a meaningful power increase over stock, or if the car runs track days regularly. You will notice more vibration at idle and in stop-and-go traffic. That is the trade-off for tighter motor control at higher RPM and under hard acceleration.
95A Extreme (Dark Red) - Racing applications only. The 95A bushing is near-solid. Engine movement is minimal. Vibration is significant. This durometer is appropriate for a dedicated track car that occasionally sees street miles, but it is not a practical daily driver option. If you are chasing lap times and NVH is irrelevant, this is your bushing.
Solid Billet (No Bushing) - True race use only. No bushing material at all - just machined billet aluminum in direct contact. This is for drag cars, dirt track cars, and builds where reliability under maximum stress is the only priority. Zero compliance, maximum rigidity. Not appropriate for any street use.
What's Included
Each B90050 kit includes the front mount, rear mount bracket, and all required installation hardware. Every kit is hand-assembled and inspected before it ships. The polyurethane bushings carry a lifetime warranty against wear and failure - Innovative Mounts stands behind this unconditionally.
Why Buy From Hybrid Racing
We run Innovative Mounts on our own cars. This is not a line - our shop cars are K-swapped, regularly driven hard, and we use the same parts we sell. When you call or email with a fitment question, you are talking to someone who has done this swap, not reading from a spec sheet. We stock this kit in all four durometer variants, ship fast, and back every order with real support. If something is wrong, we make it right.
This kit is designed for the 1996-2000 Honda Civic EK chassis only. It retains the factory EK subframe - no subframe swap required.
Not compatible with the 1992-1995 Honda Civic EG chassis. The EG and EK subframes are different. If you are on an EG, this mount kit will not work for your build.
Transmission compatibility: Compatible with K20-series transmissions. Not compatible with K24 transmissions.
Fits all 1996-2000 Civic trims including DX, LX, EX, Si, and HX when performing a K-series engine swap (K20 or K24 engine with K20 transmission).
