Innovative Mounts 12-15 Civic Si Driver Side Sub Bracket

The driver side mount on a 2012-2015 Civic Si takes a beating. Between the K24Z7's torque, a 6-speed that gets shifted hard, and a factory bracket that spends a decade sitting in road salt, plenty of FB6 sedans and FG4 coupes end up with a cracked or corroded left hand bracket long before anything else in the engine bay gives up. The Innovative Mounts 91410-SB is the 12-15 Civic Si driver side motor mount bracket, sold on its own.

What It Is and Why It Works

Read the part number before you read the title anywhere on the internet: the SB suffix means sub bracket. This is the steel bracket that carries the left hand mount, not the mount itself. There is no bushing in it and no polyurethane. If your Si is shuddering at idle, thunking on throttle transitions, or hopping the front tires on a launch, that is a worn mount, and swapping the bracket alone will not change a thing.

Where the bracket does matter is when the bracket itself is the failure. On the FB6 and FG4 chassis the driver side bracket is the interface between the transmission side of the K-series drivetrain and the chassis mounting point, and it has to be square for the mount above it to load evenly. A cracked or rust-thinned bracket lets the mount cock under load, which shortens the life of whatever mount you bolt to it. Innovative Mounts CAD/CAM designs and stress analyzes this piece and catalogs it as a direct replacement bracket for the 2012-2015 Civic Si with a K-series engine and the factory manual hydraulic setup.

It also matters for the mount-kit crowd. Innovative catalogs the same conversion left hand mount for both the 96-00 Civic K-swap and the 12-15 Civic Si, and 91410-SB is the 12-15 specific bracket that pairs with it. If you are stepping up from a stock Si to Innovative's 75A, 85A or 95A mounts and your bracket is already suspect, do the bracket at the same time. You are already in there.

Si only. The non-Si 2012-2015 Civic runs an R18 with an automatic or a CVT and does not use this bracket. Innovative Mounts lists 91410-SB against the 2012-2015 Civic Si and nothing else. Earlier 8th gen Si cars on the FA5 and FG2 chassis use their own brackets, so a 2006-2011 Si owner is on the wrong page here.

What to Know Before You Buy

Buy a mount if you want a different feel. Buy this bracket if the bracket is broken. That is the whole decision, and it is the one people get wrong most often on 9th gen Si parts, because half the listings for this part on the internet call it a "mount" when the manufacturer calls it a bracket. Pull the wheel and the fender liner and actually look at yours before you order anything.

On noise and vibration, be honest with yourself about what changes what. A steel bracket does not add vibration. Mounts do. Innovative Mounts deletes the fluid-filled damping chamber that Honda builds into the OEM mount, which is exactly why their mounts cut wheel hop and sharpen throttle response, and also exactly why you will feel more of the K24Z7 through the seat and the shifter at idle and in low gears. On a daily-driven Si the 75A is the sane starting point. The 95A belongs in a car that sees track days and does not have to be pleasant on the highway.

A few install notes worth having in advance. Support the engine with a floor jack and a block of wood before you unbolt anything, because the driver side is carrying real weight. Hardware is not in the box, so reuse the factory bolts only if they are clean and undamaged, and torque everything to the factory service manual spec rather than by feel. While the bracket is off you have a clear view of the rear mount and the passenger side, so inspect both. Most people who need a driver side bracket on a car this age need more than just the driver side bracket. And a general warning from Innovative that applies across the line: once a polyurethane mount is bolted down and takes a bolt impression, it is no longer returnable, so confirm fitment before you torque.
