The Open-Top Design Flows More

This is the redesigned filter, and the open top is the improvement.

Most cone filters are closed at the end, drawing air only through the sides. This one opens the top face as well, which gives the engine another surface to pull through. More open area means more airflow and less restriction, which is exactly what you want feeding a built engine.

It's the same element Hybrid Racing developed for the Formula intake, so it's not a generic replacement, it's the current design that flows better than what came before.

Dry Filter, No Oiling

That matters more than it sounds. Oiled filters need re-oiling after every cleaning, and over-oiling is a genuine problem, since excess oil migrates onto your MAF sensor and fouls it, which throws off your fueling and can trip a code. It's one of the most common ways people create problems with an aftermarket intake.

A dry filter sidesteps all of that. When it's dirty, you clean it and reinstall it. No oil to apply, no risk of over-oiling, no MAF sensor to worry about. It's cleaner to live with and harder to get wrong.

When To Replace It
